Raphaela is the Quality Lead and a Higher Research Scientist at the Ultrasound and Underwater Acoustics Group at the National Physical Laboratory, London, UK.She obtained B.Sc. degrees in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the Federal Fluminense University, Niterói, Brazil, in 2011, 2016 and 2013, respectively. She obtained her Ph.D degree in Biotechnology from the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro), Duque de Caxias, Brazil, in 2018. From 2013 until 2019 she was a Research Scientist at the Ultrasound Laboratory at Inmetro. While at Inmetro she developed an online and inline method for monitoring biofuels production and quality using low power ultrasound. She joined the National Physical Laboratory, UK, in 2019 and has since been working on Medical Ultrasound. She is currently involved in the development of the primary standard hydrophone calibration technique, calibration services involving the dissemination of acoustic pressure and materials characterization, and quality assurance. She is an author of 12 peer reviewed publications and has filed one patent in the ultrasound area.
