Expertise in fossil teleostean fishes, marine reptiles, pterosaurs, dinosaurs and early birds, as well as hominid evolution and classification. Biological systematics (phylogenetic systematics/cladistics), species problems and palaeoecology, and theoretical biology. Carreer: Gold medal thesis (equiv to modern PhD) on Early Eocene fishes from Fur Fm, Denmark. Studies of systematics in the early days of phylogenetic systematics (cladistics) applied to fossil vertebrates incl hominids. Later applied also to ideas on the species problems in palaeontology. Practical studies on Early Tertiary and Cretaceous marine teleosts and palaeoceanography; Early Cretaceous Danish faunas with fishes, crocs and dinosaurs, all (the few) Danish dinosaurs (Jur-Cret), Greenlandic dinosaurs (Trias), dinosaur footprints and coprolites (China, Greenland), pterosaurs (Trias-Jur), early birds incl Archaeopteryx and Eocene forms, marine reptiles, and human fossil record and classification involving non-Linnean nomenclature. Transfer preparation methods (acetic acid). Experience with exhibitions in Geol Mus, Copenhagen on hominid evolution, Early Cretaceous faunas, mosasaurs, `Danekrae fossils` and in Fur Museum on Eocene marine fishes, reptiles and birds, and diverse special exhibits mainly on Paleogene fossils. For the moment working on Miocene, Oligocene, Eocene, Danian and Mid Cretaceous teleosts, Greenlandic continental fossils (Late Trias) incl pterosaurs, also from Italy, Eocene birds and some theoretical biological problems about species definitions and phylogenetic classifications..
