Karen Amaral Tavares Pinheiro

Medical Ophthalmologist, has a degree in Medicine from the Catholic University of Pelotas (UCPel), Specialist in Ophthalmology by the Brazilian Council of Ophthalmology, Master in Health and Behavior from the UCPel (Medicine Area I). PhD in the Postgraduate Program in Health and Behavior (Medicine I-CAPES) at UCPel where she developed a thesis in the line of Neuroscience research with emphasis on pathophysiological and biochemical aspects. Professor of Ophthalmology at the Faculty of the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG). Physician of the clinical body of the Amaral Clinic in Rio Grande, where she develops ophthalmological and clinical activity. Contributor Researcher at INCT for Brain Diseases, Excitoxicity and Neuroprotection. Current Preferential Research Line: Biomarkers in the Genesis of Eye Diseases

Médica Oftalmologista, possui graduação em Medicina pela Universidade Católica de Pelotas (UCPel) , Título de Especialista em Oftalmologia pelo Conselho Brasileiro de Oftalmologia, Mestrado em Saúde e Comportamento pela UCPel (Área Medicina I). Doutorado no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Saúde e Comportamento (Medicina I-CAPES) da UCPel onde desenvolveu tese na linha de investigação de Neurociência com ênfase nos aspectos patofisiologicos e bioquímicos. Professora de Oftalmologia da Faculdade da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG) . Médica do corpo clínico da Clínica Amaral em Rio Grande, onde desenvolve atividade clínica e cirúrgica oftalmológica. Pesquisadora Colaboradora no INCT para Doenças Cerebrais, Excitoxicidade e Neuroproteção. Linha de pesquisa preferencial atual: Biomarcadores na Gênese das Doenças Oculares.
