Valiya Mannathal Hamza

Masters degree in Applied Physics from University of Kerala (1964) and Ph.D. in Geophysics from University of Western Ontario (1973). Has been Professor at Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics of the University of São Paulo and Research Coordinator of the Institute for Technology Research - IPT of the state government of São Paulo. Served as Secretary of the International Heat Flow Commission - IHFC and member of the Executive Committee of IASPEI. Elected in 2007 as member of International Heat Flow Commission. Member of American Association for Science and Technology - AASCIT. Member of Editorial board of "International Journal of Geochemistry and Geophysics" and "Journal of Geography, Environment and Earth Science International". Has wide experience in Solid Earth Geophysics and Education, with active works in Geothermics, Terrestrial Heat Flow, Geothermal Energy Resources, Tectonophysics and Climate Change of the recent past. Member of Academy of Letters Teófilo Ottoni (Brazil), since 2015. Currently Emeritus Professor at the National Observatory of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Editorial Manager of "INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF TERRESTRIAL HEAT FLOW AND APPLIED GEOTHERMICS", since December, 2017. Recognized by International Geothermal Association - IGA as Geothermal Ambassador of Brazil.

Possui graduação em Física - Universidade de Kerala (1962), mestrado em Física Aplicada - Universidade de Kerala (1964) e doutorado em Geofísica - University of Western Ontario (1973). Teve atuação como Professor do IAG-USP, Pesquisador do IPT, Secretário da Comissão Internacional de Fluxo Térmico - IHFC e membro do Comitê Executivo da Associação Internacional da Sismologia e Física do Interior da Terra - IASPEI. É atualmente Pesquisador Emérito do Observatório Nacional. Eleito em 2007 como Representante Sul-Americana na Comissão Internacional de Fluxo Térmico ? IHFC. Atua como membro de "American Association for Science and Technology - AASCIT. Membro do Corpo Editorial das revistas "International Journal of Geophysics and Geochemistry" e "Journal of Geography, Environment and Earth Science International". Possui ampla experiência na área de Geociências, com destaque nas áreas de Geotermia e Fluxo Térmico, atuando principalmente nos seguintes setores: fluxo geotérmico, energia geotérmica, recursos geotermais, tectonofísica, mudanças climáticas recentes, geofísica ambiental, sismicidade, propriedades térmicas de materiais geológicos, ensino superior. Ministrou mais de 30 cursos de pós-graduação em Geofísica. Membro de Academia de Letras de Teófilo Otoni (MG), desde 2015. Editor Gerente da revista "INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF TERRESTRIAL HEAT FLOW AND APPLIED GEOTHERMICS", desde Dezembro 2017. Em 2019, nomeado como "Embaixador de Geotermia no Brasil", pela Associação Internacional de geotermia - IGA.
