Alexandre G. Rodrigues holds a Chemical technician degree from Colégio Barão de Mauá (2005-2006), followed by a BSc in Pharmacy at Universidade Paulista in 2010. His early experiences were in cosmetic development at Gerbrás Química Farmacêutica, a SME in Brazil, and molecular biology at the lab of Prof. Dr. Mirian A. F. Hayashi at Butantan Institute, in a project to analyse the DNA of snakes. Next, he turned to polymeric nanoparticles development at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at São Paulo University under the guidance of Professors Nádia A. Bou-Chacra and María S. A. Prado, working with an ophtalmic nanoparticled suspention of dexamethasone. At that time, he also acquired experience in microbiology quality control (lab) and pharmacology (office-based) through internships, receiving his BSc in Pharmacy in 2011. From 2011-2014, he expanded his interests into metallic nanoparticles and completed his MSc in an interdisciplinary project involving fungi and silver nanoparticles guided by Prof. Dr. Ana Olívia de Souza at Butantan Institute/São Paulo University in collaboration with Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation) and University of Campinas as part of the Biota-FAPESP program, in Brazil. This project focused on the functionalization of fabrics with antimicrobial metal biogenic nanoparticles to be used in hospitals. In 2014 he moved to Germany to pursue his PhD in pharmaceutical technology sponsored by CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel - Program de Doutorado Pleno no Exterior 012931/2013-06), dealing with the synthesis of polymers and its use as drug delivery systems, under the guidance of Professors Dr. Karsten Mäder and Jörg Kressler at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. The idea of this study was to develop an in situ forming implant for the drug delivery of API. It has been conducted from the chemical synthesis to animal studies using leuprolide acetate, a peptide used in the treatment of prostate cancer and endometriosis. Since his return, he has been involved in a series of research projects in Brazil at Butantan Institute and the Pharmaceutical Faculty at Sao Paulo University. His research interests cover the field of drug delivery systems and pharmaceutical formulations as well as diagnostics technology and biomaterials. Besides science, his interests include sports, arts, languages and business.
graduation at Pharmacy from Universidade Paulista (2010) and master's at Biotechnology from Universidade de São Paulo (2014). He is currently phd candidate/assistant professor at Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg. Has experience in Pharmacy, acting on the following subjects: silver nanoparticles, mangrove fungi, physico-chemical characterization, dexametasona and nanocápsulas.
