Ulysses Paulino de Albuquerque

Ulysses Paulino de Albuquerque concluiu o doutorado em Biologia Vegetal pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco em 2001, com realização de estágio no laboratório de etnobotânica da Universidade Nacional Autonoma do Mexico sob a supervisão do Dr. Javier Caballero. Foi professor da Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco até abril de 2017, tendo fundado e coordenado o Laboratório de Ecologia e Evolução de Sistemas Socioecológicos (LEA). Atualmente é professor titular do Departamento de Botânica da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. Foi presidente da Sociedade Brasileira de Etnobiologia e Etnoecologia (2005-2008). Ainda foi vocal internacional da Sociedade Latinoamericana de Etnobiologia (2009-2010). Publicou vários artigos em periódicos especializados e trabalhos em anais de eventos. Atua na área de botânica, ecologia e antropologia ecológica, com ênfase em etnobiologia. Tem interesse especial voltado para a compreensão dos fatores que modulam a relação entre pessoas e outros seres vivos na interface ecologia e processos evolutivos. É membro do corpo editorial das revistas Plos One (Editor acadêmico), Economic Botany (Editor Associado), Journal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine (Editor Associado), Ethnobotany Research and Applications (Editor associado) e Ethnobiology and Conservation (co-editor chefe). Em 2022, em uma pesquisa publicada por cientistas da Universidade de Stanford, integrou a lista dos 100 mil pesquisadores mais influentes do mundo. Atualmente ocupa a cadeira 46 da Academia Pernambucana de Ciência (ACP). ######################################################################### Ulysses Paulino de Albuquerque is graduate at Biological Sciences from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (1993), master's at Plant Biology (Taxonomy and Ethnobotany)from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (1996) and PhD at Plant Biology (Ethnobotany) from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (2001). He was professor of Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (Pernambuco, Northeastern Brazil) until the year 2017. He is full professor at Botany Department, Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. He was presidente of the Brazilian Society of Ethnobiology and Ethnoecology (2005-2008). He acts in the areas of ecological anthropology, ethnobotany, biodiversity conservation, applied botany, ethnopharmacology and natural products. He has a special interest to the comprehension of the factors that modulate the relation between people and nature on the interface of ecology and evolutive processes. He is member of editorial board of the Plos One (Academic Editor), Economic Botany (Associate Editor),Journal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine (Associate editor), Ethnobotany Research and Applications (Associate Editor), and Ethnobiology and Conservation (co-editor in chief). In 2022, in a survey published by scientists at Stanford University, he joined the list of the 100,000 most influential researchers in the world. He currently occupies chair 46 of the Pernambuco Academy of Science.
