Research Professor at Center for Radio Astronomy and Astrophysics (CRAAM) at Mackenzie University, Sap Paulo (1971-73). Presently senior researcher and CNPq research fellow at 1A level at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil. Coordinated ionospheric research program at INPE from 1978 to 2008; Professor of post graduation in Space Geophysics area at INPE, having supervised about 30 Doctoral and Masters thesis and a number of post doctoral fellows and many students for scientific initiation. Member of the CNPq evaluation committee (CA) from 2005 to 2008; Head of the Aeronomy Division at INPE (1992-1996); Member of executive committee of IAGA(International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy)/IUGG (2003-2011); Discipline Representative, Scientific Committee on Solar-Terrestrial Physics (SCOSTEP) 1987-1995; Chairman, Inter-Divisional Commission for Developing Countries of IAGA; Chairman of the International Equatorial Electrojet Year (1991-1993) of IAGA. Coordinated the establishment of several ionospheric observatories in Brazil (Cachoeira Paulista, Fortaleza, and Sao Luis).Experience in the areas of Solar-Terrestrial Physics, Space Geophysics with specific interest in Space and Atmospheric Science, ionospheric physics and aeronomy. Currently focussing on: Atmosphere-ionosphere-magnetosphere coupling, space weather issues, equatorial ionosphere, ionospheric electrodynamics, plasma bubbles, electric fields, ionospheric responses to magnetic storms. Reviewer for various scientific journals since 1973. Recognition for excellence in reviewing by AGU (American Geophysical Union) and Elsevier publisher. Consultant to CNPq, FAPESP, NASA, NSF etc. Published more than 290 research articles in International journals, and several book chapters, and edited one Book by Springer. Vikram Sarabhai Medal conferred by COSPAR/ISRO (2008) for excellence in promoting Space Research in Developing Countries. Member of the Science Academy of the State of Sao Paulo, ACADEMIA DE CIÊNCIAS DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULO (ACIESP). Possui graduação em Física pelo Maharajas College (1959), mestrado em Física pelo Maharajas College (1961), Universidade Kerala, e doutorado em Física da Ionosfera - Physical Research Laboratory Gujarat University (1967), Ahmedabad, India. Realizou pesquisa de pôs doutorado (1968-71) na Universidade de Western Ontario, London, Canada. Professor Pesquisador no Centro de Radio Astronomia e Astrofísica (CRAAM) da Universidade Mackenzie (1971-73). Atualmente é pesquisador sênior do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) e pesquisador de novel 1A do CNPq. Coordenou a linha de pesquisas ionosféricas do INPE de 1978 ate 2008. Professor do curso de mestrado e doutorado em Geofísica Espacial desde 1973, tendo orientado vários alunos (30 alunos) de mestrados e doutorado, diversas bolsistas de iniciação científica e de pós doutorado. Membro do CA do CNPQ (2005-2008). Chefe da divisão de Aeronomia no INPE (1992-1996). Membro do comitê executivo da IAGA (International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy subordinado a IUGG) (2003-2011); Discipline Representative, Scientific committee on Solar-Terrestrial Physics (SCOSTEP), 1987- 1995; Chairman da Comissão Inter-divisional da IAGA para promoção de pesquisas nos Países em Desenvolvimento (ICDC) (1987-1991); Foi responsável pelo estabelecimento de vários observatórios ionosféricos no Brasil. Tem experiência na área de, Física solar-terrestre, Geofisica espacial com ênfase em Ciências Espaciais e Atmosféricas e na física de Ionosfera e Aeronomia. Frequente revisor de diversos periódicos indexados desde 1973. Reconhecimento por excelência como revisor pelos AGU e Elsevier. Consultor a CNPq, FAPESP, NASA, NSF etc. Publicou cerca de 290 artigos científicos em periódicos indexados de alto nível, um livro, e diversos capítulos de livros. Premio: Vikram Sarabhai medal de excelencia em promover pesquisas espaciais em paises em Desenvolvimento, concedido pelo COSPAR e ISRO. Membro Titular da ACADEMIA DE CIÊNCIAS DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULO ( ACIESP). Distinguished lecture, em Solar-Terrestrial Science no congresso Asia-Oceania (AOGS) em Singapore (2015). Membro do Award Committee do COSPAR desde 2016. Premio Maro Acunha conferido pela Assoiacao Latino-Americano de Geofisica Espacial (ALAGE) em 2018.
