Full professor at the Faculty of Language and Literature of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais - UFMG). Master in German and Romance Literature at the University of Trier/Germany, doctor in Literary Studies at UFMG (1994); post-doctor at the University Humboldt (2003; supervisor: Hartmut Böhme) and the Center of Literary and Cultural Research (ZfL; 2011; supervisor: Daniel Weidner), both in Berlin. Leader of the Research-Groups "Núcleo Walter Benjamin" and "Mito e Modernidade [Myth and Modernity]" and member of the Committee of the Center of European Studies at UFMG. Experience in the area of Theory of LIterature/Comparative Literature, working on authors and subjects as Walter Benjamin, Hans Blumenberg, Aesthetics and Culture, Myth and Modernity, At the moment he is the head of the Graduate Program in Literary Studies of the Faculdade de Letras/UFMG.
Professor Titular na Faculdade de Letras da UFMG. Possui mestrado em Letras Germânicas e Letras Românicas - Universidade de Trier/Alemanha (1985), doutorado em Estudos Literários pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1994); estágios pós-doutorais pela Universidade Humboldt de Berlim (2003), pelo Centro de Pesquisas Literárias e Culturais (ZfL; 2011) em Berlim e, pela Universidade Livre de Berlim (2018). É membro do Grupo de Pesquisa "Mito e Modernidade". Tem experiência na área de Letras, com ênfase em Teoria Literária e Teorias modernas do mito, trabalhando, principalmente, sobre os seguintes autores e temas: Walter Benjamin, Hans Blumenberg, Estética e Cultura, Mito e Modernidade. Atualmente é vice-diretor da Faculdade de Letras da UFMG.
