Paulo Menechelli is a Ph.D. Candidate and MSc. in International and Compared Politics, at the Institute of International Relations, University of Brasília (UnB), and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of São Paulo (USP). He worked as the Foreign Affairs adviser of the Department of Culture of the São Paulo City Hall (2014-2015), and as a Consultant for the Ministry of Culture of Brazil (2015-2016), on a project on the internationalization of Brazilian culture. His research focuses on China?s Cultural Diplomacy, especially the use of films as tools of Chinese cultural soft power. He is secretary-general of the Center for Global Studies (UnB), researcher of the Study Laboratory on Media and International Relations (LEMRI), from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), editor of the Mundorama Magazine, and co-founder and fellow of the think tank Observa China. He was a visiting scholar (2022) at the School of International Relations and Diplomacy at the Beijing Foreign Studies University, China, and is currently a visiting scholar (2022-2023) at the Department of Media Studies at the University of Virginia, United States. Paulo Roberto Tadeu Menechelli Filho é Doutorando e Mestre em Relações Internacionais pelo Instituto de Relações Internacionais da Universidade de Brasília (UnB) e Bacharel em Direito pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Trabalhou como Assessor para Assuntos Internacionais da Secretaria Municipal de Cultura de São Paulo (2014-2015) e como Consultor do Ministério da Cultura do Brasil (2015-2016), em projeto visando à internacionalização da cultura brasileira. Sua pesquisa tem como foco a diplomacia cultural da China, em especial o uso do cinema como instrumento do soft power cultural chinês. É secretário geral do Centro de Estudos Globais (UnB), pesquisador do Laboratório de Estudos de Mídia e Relações Internacionais (LEMRI), da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), editor da Revista Mundorama e cofundador e especialista do think tank Observa China. Foi pesquisador visitante (2022) na Escola de Relações Internacionais e Diplomacia da Universidade de Estudos Estrangeiros de Pequim, China, e atualmente é pesquisador visitante (2022-2023) no Departamento de Estudos de Mídia da Universidade da Virgínia, Estados Unidos.
