I am an Associate Professor III at the Federal University of Uberlândia, with a degree in Dentistry from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2002) and a master's and doctorate in Immunology from the same university (2005 and 2009, respectively). I completed a sandwich doctorate at the Forsyth Institute in Boston, MA, during the period from 2008 to 2009, where I concluded the Immunology course at Harvard University, Boston, MA.My expertise lies mainly in the areas of cellular immunology, cellular biology, and oncology, with a focus on bone resorption, intracellular signaling, and tumor biomarkers. Currently, my research team is studying the involvement of beta receptor activity in tumor cells regarding proliferation, death, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition in in vitro and in vivo models.Moreover, I am currently coordinating the Oncological Study and Research Center (NEPON) and the Tumor Biomarkers and Osteoimmunology Laboratory (LAB.BIOS). In partnership with the Cancer Hospital and the Fight for Life Group, we are conducting studies to identify serum biomarkers that can be used as diagnostic and treatment response markers in lung, breast, and leukemia cancers. Additionally, in collaboration with the Veterinary Hospital, we are conducting retrospective and prospective studies to investigate risk factors in the development of cancer in dogs and cats.Finally, I would like to highlight my contributions through scientific production, human resources training, innovation contribution, institutional scientific and academic activity, national resource acquisition, coordination and participation in research projects, as well as consultancy to funding agencies.
Sou Professor Associado III na Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, com graduação em Odontologia pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2002) e mestrado e doutorado em Imunologia na mesma universidade (2005 e 2009, respectivamente). Realizei doutorado sanduíche no Forsyth Institute em Boston, MA, durante o período de 2008 a 2009, onde concluí o curso de Imunologia na Universidade de Harvard, Boston, MA. Minha experiência é principalmente na área de imunologia celular, biologia celular e cancerologia, com ênfase em reabsorção óssea, sinalização intracelular e biomarcadores tumorais. Atualmente, estudamos a participação da atividade do receptor beta em células tumorais em relação à proliferação, morte e transição epitélio-mesênquima em modelos in vitro e in vivo. Atualmente, coordeno o Núcleo de Estudo e Pesquisa Oncológica (NEPON) e o Laboratório de Biomarcadores Tumorais e Osteoimunologia (LAB.BIOS).Em parceria com o Hospital do Câncer e o Grupo Luta pela Vida, também realizamos estudos para identificar biomarcadores séricos que possam ser usados como marcadores de diagnóstico e resposta ao tratamento em cânceres de pulmão, mama e leucemias. Além disso, em colaboração com o Hospital Veterinário, conduzimos estudos retrospectivos e prospectivos para investigar os fatores de risco no desenvolvimento de câncer em cães e gatos. Por fim, destaco minha atuação por meio da produção científica, formação de recursos humanos, contribuição para a inovação, atividade científico-acadêmica institucional, captação de recursos nacionais, coordenação e participação em projetos de pesquisa, bem como a participação em consultorias às agências de fomento.
