Ricardo Paiva holds a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Ceará (1997), having received the academic distinction Magna Cum Laude, a master's degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (FAUUSP) (2005) and a Phd in Architecture and Urbanism by the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (FAUUSP) (2011) with the thesis "The Hybrid Metropolis: the role of tourism in the urbanization process of the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza". He is Associate Professor at Architecture and Urbanism and Design Department at the Federal University of Ceará (DAUD-UFC ) and Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism and Design at UFC - PPGAU + D-UFC (2015-2018) and (2021-2025). He coordinates the LoCAU (Laboratory of Critics in Architecture, Urbanism and Urbanization) of the DAUD-UFC. He acts as leader of the research groups LoCAU and member at CILITUR (Coastal Cities and Tourism) of the MDU-UFPE. He is a researcher at LABCOM (Commerce and City Laboratory). He was a Junior Visiting Professor with a CAPES scholarship at IST-UL - Portugal and DOCOMOMO International - Pos Doc (2018-2019). Among other publications, he is the organizer and author of chapters in the book Tourism, Architecture and City and Megaevents and Urban Interventions, published by Editora Manole in 2016 and 2017, respectively and Tertiary, Architecture and the City in the Digital Age: permanences and transformations (2021). He is a member of DOCOMOMO International. Since January 2022, he holds the position of Fiscal Councilor at DOCOMOMO BRASIL. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Revista DOCOMOMO Brasil. He has experience in the area of Architecture and Urbanism, with emphasis on Architectural and Urban Design and Theory, History and Criticism of Architecture and Urbanism, working mainly in the following subjects: design, architecture criticism and modern and contemporary urbanism, tourism, urbanization, architecture , city and mega-events

Realizou o Pós Doutorado (2019) com Bolsa de Professor Visitante Junior da CAPES, junto ao IST-Universidade de Lisboa - Portugal e no DOCOMOMO International. É Professor Associado do Curso de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade Federal do Ceará, Bolsista de Produtividade em Pesquisa 2 do CNPq, Coordenador do Programa de Pós Graduação em Arquitetura e Urbanismo e Design da UFC - PPGAU+D-UFC (2015-2018) e (2021-2025). Coordena o LoCAU (Laboratório de Crítica em Arquitetura, Urbanismo e Urbanização) do DAUD-UFC. Atua como líder do grupo de pesquisa LoCAU - UFC e como integrante do CILITUR (Cidades Litorâneas e Turismo) do MDU-UFPE, cadastrados no CNPq. É pesquisador do LABCOM (Laboratório de Comércio e Cidade). Entre outras publicações, é organizador e autor de capítulos no livro Turismo, Arquitetura e Cidade e Megaeventos e Intervenções Urbanas, publicados pela Editora Manole em 2016 e 2017, respectivamente e Terciário, Arquitetura e Cidade na Era Digital: permanências e transformações (2021). É Membro do DOCOMOMO International. Desde 2022, exerce o cargo de Conselheiro Fiscal no DOCOMOMO BRASIL e é um dos editores da Revista DOCOMOMO Brasil. Tem experiência na área de Arquitetura e Urbanismo, com ênfase em Projeto Arquitetônico e Urbano e Teoria, História e Crítica da Arquitetura e do Urbanismo, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: projeto, crítica da arquitetura e urbanismo moderno e contemporâneo, turismo, urbanização, arquitetura, cidade e megaeventos.
