Graduado em Agronomia pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (1976), Mestrado em Irrigação e Drenagem pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (1980) e Doutorado em Agronomia (Ecofisiologia Vegetal) - Universidad de Córdoba, Córdoba-Espanha (1992). Por dois mandatos consecutivos foi Diretor do Centro de Ciências Agrárias da UFPB. Foi Diretor Adjunto e Presidente do Comitê Gestor do Plano Diretor do INSA/MCTI. A convite da FAO, participou de viagens de estudos em Universidades Americanas (Texas, Arizona, Novo México e San Diego na California) e no México (Monterrey e Chihuahua). Participou da Missão Científica de Cooperação Brasileira entre o Brasil e a Jordânia, em Amã, Jordânia. Missão de estudos a convite do Ministério das Relações Exteriores (MRE) em Burkina Faso, na Africa. Integrou a Comissão que subsidiou as discussões técnicas dos representantes do MRE na Nona Sessão da Conferência das Partes, Convenção das Nações Unidas de Combate à Desertificação, em Buenos Aires, Argentina. Foi Professor Visitante Nacional Sênior (CAPES) na UAG/UFRPE. Participa como docente permanente do Programa de Doutorado Integrado em Zootecnia (PDIZ) no CCA/UFPB e como Professor Colaborador do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Agronomia do CCA/UFPB. Atualmente é Professor Titular da UFRPE/UAG, recentemente da UFAPE, e docente permanente dos Programas de Pós-Graduação em Ciência Animal e Pastagens e Pós-Graduação em Produção Agrícola. Tem experiência em Ecofisiologia Vegetal e Relação Solo Água Planta, desenvolvendo pesquisa, principalmente, com os seguintes temas: Caatinga, Forrageiras Nativas do Semiárido, Metabólitos secundários em espécies forrageiras da Caatinga, Pastejo e Impacto Ambiental.

For two consecutive terms he was Director of the Agricultural Sciences Center of the UFPB. He was Deputy Director and President of the Steering Committee of the INSA / MCTI Master Plan. At the invitation of FAO, he participated in study trips at American Universities (Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and San Diego in California) and in Mexico (Monterrey and Chihuahua). Participated in the Scientific Mission of Brazilian Cooperation between Brazil and Jordan, in Amman, Jordan. Study mission at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) in Burkina Faso, Africa. It was the Commission that subsidized the technical discussions of the MRE representatives at the Ninth Session of the Conference of the Parties, United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was Senior National Visiting Professor (CAPES) at UAG / UFRPE. He participates as a permanent professor of the Integrated PhD Program in Animal Science (PDIZ) at the CCA / UFPB and as a Collaborating Professor of the Postgraduate Program in Agronomy of the CCA / UFPB. He is currently Professor of UFRPE / UAG and permanent professor of the Postgraduate Program in Animal Science and Pastures. He has experience in Plant Ecophysiology and Soil Water Ratio, developing research mainly on the following subjects: Caatinga, Native Forages of the Semi-Arid, Secondary metabolites in forage species of Caatinga, Pastejo and Environmental Impact.
