Mauro Cesar Barbosa Cid

My name is Mauro Cid and I am a Ph.D. in Military Sciences for the Brazilian Army and Staff College in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In my thesis, I try to find out what will be the consequences of deploying Brazilian Military forces to the Middle East, based on the Defense Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs plan to send an Army Peacekeeping Battalion to UNIFIL, with a specific focus in National Defense Policy, Terrorism, Middle East and International Relations. With regards to my academic background, I hold a Masters Degree in Military Science from the Brazilian Army Advanced School (2008-2009) and a Bachelor degree in Military Sciences from the Agulhas Negras Military Academy (1996-2000). I also have a PG in Public Relations and Marketing Management at Veiga de Almeida University (2005) and International Relations in Damasio/Clio College (Rio de Janeiro ? 2016). In the Brazilian Army, as a major, I became a specialist in Irregular Warfare (Special Forces Course, 2003) and in Commando Actions (2002) by the Special Operations Instruction Center of the Brazilian Army. I also have Certificate of Proficiency in English as second language by the University of Michigan (2011). My field experience includes two terms as Military Observer and Liaison Officer of the United Nations Operation in CYPRUS (UNFICYP) (2012-2013) and I was also part of the team that planned the deployment of a Brazilian military battalion to the United Nations Interim Force in LEBANON (UNIFIL) in 2014.

É Doutor em Ciências Militares pelo Instituto Meira Mattos da Escola de Comando e Estado-Maior (ECEME). É Mestre em Operações Militares, pela Escola de Aperfeiçoamento de Oficiais (RJ, 2009) do Exército Brasileiro, Bacharel em Ciências Militares pela Academia Militar das Agulhas Negras (RJ, 2000). Especialista em Guerra Irregular (Curso de Forças Especiais, 2003) e em Ações de Comandos (2002) pelo Centro de Instrução de Operações Especiais do Exército Brasileiro. Atuou como Observador Militar e Oficial de Ligação da Operação das Nações Unidas no CHIPRE (UNFICYP) entre os anos de 2012 e 2013. Contribuiu no planejamento de envio de militares brasileiros para a Força Interina das Nações Unidas no LÍBANO (UNIFIL) em 2014. Especializou-se em Relações Públicas e Gerência de Marketing pela Universidade Veiga de Almeida (2005). Possui particular interesse no que diz respeito à Defesa Nacional, Terrorismo, Guerra Irregular, Oriente Médio e Relações Internacionais. Atualmente cursa o Curso de Altos Estudos Militares na Escola de Comando e Estado Maior do Exército e é doutorando do Instituto Meira Mattos de Estudos Políticos e Estratégicos.
