Ígor Moreira Lopes

Igor Moreira Lopes is a PhD candidate at the Agricultural and Engineering Department at Purdue University. His current research aims to improve the understanding regarding nutrient movement and water contamination after anaerobic digestion effluents are used as organic fertilizers. Igor started his PhD studies in 2012 and has since mentored two Master of Science (M.S.) students (focused in manure availability in Indiana, USA and manure use as fertilizer) and one undergraduate research project (wind sensor). Igor's M.S. title was obtained from University of Kentucky in 2012 from the Biological and Agricultural Engineering. During his M.S. studies, Igor designed and built a walk-in wind tunnel and performed agricultural fans testing to improve gas emissions from animal facilities calculations. Previously from his M.S. studies, Igor worked in 2009 for University of Kentucky in the Poultry House Evaluation Service extension project, which aimed to improve Kentucky poultry production systems energy usage by educating poultry farmers, from 4 different production complexes, about methods to improve energy consumption and giving direct farm evaluations to more than 20 farmers in the state. In Brazil, Igor Lopes studied Agricultural Engineering at State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) from 2003 to 2008. During his time at UNICAMP, Igor conducted two scientific initiation projects (post-harvest 3D modeling moiré technique and ultra-sound use for non-destructive testing of construction materials)
