Claudia Portes Santos Silva

Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences at Santa Úrsula University, Brazil (1982), Master's in Science(Zoology) by the National Museum of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1989), PhD in Biophysics bythe Biophysics Institute of the Federal University of Rio de January (1997) with Postdoctoral period at theNatural History Museum, London (2005) (fellowship of Royal Society of London and Brazilian Academy ofSciences). She worked at Santa Ursula University with teaching and research in Helminthology in theBiological Sciences and Nutrition courses. She was a researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation(FIOCRUZ) and head of the Laboratory for Evaluation and Promotion of Environmental Health - LAPSA.She was an Adjunct Coordinator of the Postgraduate course in Biodiversity and Health at Fiocruz. Hasexperience in Helminthology with emphasis on Taxonomy of Recent Groups. The works and supervisionsfocus on the integrative taxonomy of helminths of fish, mollusks, and aquatic and terrestrial mammals,combining morphological aspects with genetic, behavioral, toxicological data and studies with experimentallife cycles. The main groups studied are Monogenea, Trematoda, Nematoda and Acanthocephala. She was a research Fellow 1C of National Council of Scientific Research CNPq (Brazil).

Has experience in Zoology, focusing on Taxonomy of the Recent Groups, acting on the following subjects: helmintos, parasitologia, monogenea, nematoda and ultraestrutura.
