Wagner de Paula Carvalho
Formado em Física pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1990). Mestrado em Física pelo Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas (1993) com dissertação sobre a análise de um modo de decaimento do méson D+/- com troca de sabor por corrente neutra usando dados da experiência FNAL-E691. Doutorado em Física pelo CBPF (1998) com tese sobre a produção de múons e quarks b no Tevatron (FNAL) usando dados do experimento DZero. Membro da Colaboração Internacional DZero entre 1994 e 2008, com atuação nos grupos de Física do Bottom e Física Difrativa. Atualmente, participa da Colaboração CMS/LHC no Centro Europeu de Física de Partículas (CERN). Participou da construção do calorímetro extremamente frontal CASTOR, do desenvolvimento de uma biblioteca de chuveiros (shower library) para a sua simulação e do desenvolvimento de placas do front-end para o upgrade do calorímetro hadrônico frontal HF, subsistema do HCAL (Hadronic Calorimeter). Atualmente, desenvolve atividades relacionadas ao banco de dados para o detector PPS (Precision Proton Spectrometer). Tem desenvolvido atividades de pesquisa relacionadas principalmente à física frontal e difrativa e produção associada do quark charm.
