Antoine Serhal

My name is Antoine Serhal (35, Lebanese) and I hold a MEng.Sc. degree in Water Engineering (2002, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNSW, Australia) with focus in Hydrogeology, and a BSc. in Agriculture and Diploma of Agriculture Engineer (1999, American University of Beirut, Lebanon) with 5 years of professional experience in groundwater engineering projects. For my continuing professional development and career path, I am currently seeking to continue my education towards a PhD and secure a research project in Karst Hydrogeology with considerable opportunities to develop and sustain the karst heritage throughout future generations. My focus is to ensure that a leading Brasilian research institution concerned in karst research and groundwater resources management, will welcome my commitment towards professional development, and guide me professionally to develop the living Karst environment of Brasilian communities, in addition to getting involved with public awareness in issues related to the management of water resources. My professional experience covered the humanitarian, private, and educational sectors across many countries including Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, UAE, Qatar, and Pakistan. In the humanitarian sector, my occupied position was Water and Habitat Engineer for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Lebanon, over a period of 2.5 years as part of Assistance program addressing communities affected by armed conflict through the repair and reconstruction of essential water infrastructure, and application of sanitation measures as set by design, and budget. In the private and research sectors, the positions held over a 6 years were in the hydrogeology, landscape, irrigation, and water resources fields across many countries in the design, and procurement process throughout the entire phase of bidding, contractor selection, project construction and implementation, and handing over. During those 6 years, the experiences learned and the technical and theoretical competencies gained exist over the wide range of hydraulics system design, pumping stations, groundwater production wells, distribution mainlines, irrigation, and agriculture research and extension. The experiences shared and offered are in thinking, working around problems, and adapting to daily job requirements, as part of acquired confidence, defined priorities and schedules, through thinking critically and constructively, communicating views and opinions, implementing solutions, and delivering on time. The technical background is supported by my membership in professional organisations: Lebanese Order of Engineers, International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH), National Ground Water Association (NGWA), International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) and abiding by their codes of practice, sustainability, accountability, in addition to the use of computer design tools including groundwater modelling (MODFLOW, FEFLOW), hydrogeochemical modeling (PHREEQC), FAO Codes (CROPWAT, AQUACROP), hydraulics system design (EPANET), and various design spread-sheets.Kindly, do not hesitate to refer to my Personal Profile Form and feel free to contact me if you require any further details, should my qualifications, professional experience, and credentials be suitable for securing a research position in Brasil and continuing education opportunities, for the better advancement of Brasil. Thank you in advance for considering my profile.Respectfully YoursAntoine Serhal
