Caynnã de Camargo Santos

Doutor em Sociologia pela Universidade de Coimbra, Mestre em Filosofia pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP), no Programa de Estudos Culturais, e bacharel pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Atualmente é Investigador em Pós-doutorado no Centro de Estudos Sociais da Universidade de Coimbra (CES), integrando o projeto "ENGENDER: Integração dos Estudos de Género nos curricula e práticas pedagógicas no ensino público universitário em Portugal". Atuou como Tutor em curso de Pós-graduação em Gênero e Diversidade na Escola oferecido pela Universidade Federal de São Paulo (Unifesp). Também realizou Estágio Supervisionado em Docência na Escola de Artes, Ciências e Humanidades da Universidade de São Paulo (EACH/USP). Tem desenvolvido sua investigação e publicado nas áreas de Estudos Culturais e Estudos sobre as Mulheres, de Gênero e Feministas, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: sociologia das relações de gênero, teorias feministas pós-estruturalistas, teorias queer, corpo, novos materialismos feministas, realismo agencial e análise crítica de discursos midiáticos.

Phd in Sociology from University of Coimbra. I hold a masters degree in Philosophy from University of São Paulo (Brazil) and a bachelors degree from the same institution. My masters research focused on the role played by media culture primarily addressed to children in the process of production and reiteration of the restrictive gender and sexual hegemonic models of normality and abnormality (and pathology), showing how some of these allegedly aseptic discursive practices characterize obstacles to effective social empowerment of groups, bodies and forms of identification that frustrates heteronormative expectations.My current research interests lie primarily at the intersection of gender and studies of the body. I am interested in the notion of sexed bodies - especially the socially produced as abject and heretic - as biosocial entities, it is, as a complex phenomena, constituted by the interaction of its material dimension and discursive and cultural intelligibility structures, in a process that takes place within the dynamics of disciplinary power. Therefore, my interests are linked to the political and epistemological emerging movements in the fields of gender, feminist and cultural studies that, as the so called new materialism, try to transverse the fluxes of nature and culture, matter and discourse, emphasizing the ontological inseparability of these apparently opposite terms.
