Hella Gertrud Olbertz

In 1977, I graduated in English and Spanish Language and Literature at the University of Göttingen in Germany. After graduating in German Language at the Dutch Stichting Vrije Leergangen in 1983, I obtained my master's degree in Spanish Linguistics at the University of Amsterdam in 1988. From the same university I received my PhD in Linguistics in 1996. From 2010 to 2014 I coordinated the Research Group in Functional Discourse Grammar at the University of Amsterdam and from 2015 onward I have been secretary of the Functional Discourse Grammar Foundation. Together with Marize M. Dall'Aglio Hattnher, I coordinate the Project on Linguistic Typology within the Latin American Association of Linguistics and Philology (ALFAL).My main research interest concerns the semantic and syntactic aspects of Spanish and Portuguese, which I try to account for within the theoretical framework of Functional Discourse Grammar. Above all, I am interested in modality and verbal aspect as well as the grammaticalization of the expressions of these categories.

Tenho Licenciatura em Língua e Literatura Inglesa e Espanhola pela Universidade de Göttingen (Alemanha) (1977) e graduação em Língua Alemã pela Stichting Vrije Leergangen em Amsterdã (1983). Obtive o título de mestre em Linguística e Filologia Espanhola pela Universidade de Amsterdã em 1988. Nessa mesma universidade, concluí o doutorado em Linguística, em 1996. De 2010 a 2014, fui coordenadora do Grupo de Pesquisa de Gramática Discursivo-Funcional na Universidade de Amsterdã, e sou secretária da Fundação de Gramática Discursivo-Funcional desde 2015. Coordeno, em colaboração com Marize M. Dall'Aglio Hattnher, o Projeto de Tipologia Linguística dentro da Associação de Linguística e Filologia da América Latina (ALFAL). Fui professora visitante no PPGEL da UNESP/IBILCE (2014-2015) e no PPGEL da UEFS (2016-2018). A partir de outubro de 2018 sou professora visitante na Facultade de Filoloxía da Universidade de Santiago de Compostela.
