Bruno Moreira de Souza Dias

Doutor em Astrofísica pelo Instituto de Astronomia, Geofísica e Ciências Atmosféricas da Universidade de São Paulo (IAG/USP), com um ano de doutorado sanduíche no exterior no Observatório Europeu do Sul (ESO) em Santiago, Chile. Atualmente pesquisador independente no Instituto de Alta Investigación, Universidad de Tarapacá (IAI/UTA) no Chile, após dois anos de pós-doutorado na Universidad Andres Bello (UNAB, Chile), e um ano de pós-doutorado na Durham University (Inglaterra) dentro da rede LACEGAL/Marie Curie. Líder do projeto VISCACHA, membro dos surveys VVVX, SDSS-V. Responsável pelo instrumento FORS2 no VLT, ESO de 2015 a 2018. Experiência em astrofísica estelar no contexto de formação e evolução de galáxias, trabalhando principalmente nos seguintes tópicos: aglomerados globulares, populações estelares, bojo e halo da Via Láctea, múltiplas populações em aglomerados globulares e Nuvens de Magalhães. Experiência com instrumentação astronômica, telescópios, operações, administração, trabalho em equipe unindo astrônomos e engenheiros. Membro da Sociedade Astronômica Brasileira (SAB), da Sociedad Chilena de Astronomia (SOCHIAS) e União Astronômica Internacional (IAU). PhD in Astrophysics from the Instituto de Astronomia, Geofísica e Ciências Atmosféricas da Universidade de São Paulo (IAG/USP), with a year of internship at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Santiago, Chile. Currently independent researcher at the Instituto de Alta Investigación, Universidad de Tarapacá (IAI/UTA) in Chile, after two years of postdoctoral research and teaching at Universidad Andres Bello (UNAB, Chile), and one year of postdoctoral research at Durham University (England) within the LACEGAL/Marie Curie network. Project leader VISCACHA, member of VVVX, SDSS-V surveys. Responsible for the FORS2 instrument in the VLT, ESO from 2015 to 2018. Experience in stellar astrophysics in the context of galaxy formation and evolution, working mainly on the following topics: globular clusters, stellar populations, Milky Way bulge and halo, multiple populations in globular clusters and Magellanic Clouds. Experience with astronomical instrumentation, telescopes, operations, administration, teamwork uniting astronomers and engineers.
