Graduado pela Faculdade de Medicina da UFMG (1976), fez residência em Clínica Médica (1978), e possui especializações em Saúde Pública (1981), Medicina da Trabalho(1990) e Patologia Clínica (1994). Mestre em Educação pela Faculdade de Educação da UFMG (1997) e Doutor em Ciências Biológicas- Microbiologia/UFMG (2011). Na UFMG, foi docente no Departamento de Medicina Preventiva e Social no período de 1979-1993 atuando no Internato Rural e na Saúde do Trabalhador/Medicina do Trabalho. Em 1994 transferiu-se para o Departamento de Propedêutica Complementar-Área de Patologia Clínica. Atuou em cargos de representação acadêmica, coordenação didática e preceptoria de médicos residentes. Foi chefe do Departamento de Propedêutica Complementar em 2005/2007. A partir de 2005, em dedicação exclusiva na UFMG, atuou nos seguintes temas: Diagnóstico Laboratorial da Tuberculose , Diagnóstico Laboratorial das Infecções Cérvico-Vaginais , Gestão em Patologia Clínica\Medicina Laboratorial, e Ensino Superior. Foi diretor social da Fundação Mendes Pimentel (FUMP-UFMG) no período de 2014-2015. Como autônomo trabalhou prestando assistência em Clínica Médica , Patologia Clínica e Medicina do Trabalho, tendo atuado como Perito Médico Judicial na Justiça do Trabalho e a partir de 2015 como Médico Perito na 21a. Vara do Tribunal de Justiça de Minas Gerais (2015). Aposentou-se na UFMG em 2016 e desde então vem atuando como profissional autônomo.
Graduated in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of (1976), did his residency in Internal Medicine (1978), and has specializations in Public Health (1981), Medical Work (1990) and Pathology(1994). Master in Education from the College of Education UFMG (1992) with the thesis "The Worker and the health-disease process: the political-pedagogical mediation CIPA" and PhD in Biológics Sciences/Microbiology UFMG(2011). At the UFMG, he was a professor in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine in the 1979-1993 period working in the Rural Internship and Occupational Health/Occupational Medicine. Since 1994 is professor of the Department of Propedeutics Complementary-Area of Clinical Pathology. He worked in academic representation positions, teaching and mentoring coordination of medical residents. He was head of the Department of Complementary Propedeutics in 2005/2007. From 2005, exclusively dedicated the University, he worked on the following topics: Tuberculosis Laboratory Diagnosis, Laboratory Diagnosis of Cervical-Vaginal Infections Management in Clinical Pathology \ Laboratory Medicine, and Higher Education. As autonomous worked assisting in Internal Medicine, Clinical Pathology and Occupational Medicine, having served as Perito Judicial Medical in labor courts and from 2015 as a Medical Expert in the 21st. Court of the Court of Justice of Minas Gerais.
