David Mandel Weiss

Experience as a software engineering researcher and research director in industry andgovernment at places such as Avaya Labs, Bell Labs, Naval Research Laboratory (NRL),and the Software Productivity Consortium. Visiting positions at the Office ofTechnology Assessment and The Wang Institute of Graduate Studies. Also worked as amathematician at NRL and programmer at Computer Sciences Corporation. My bestknown and most widely-used work is my invention of the goal-question-metric approachto software measurement, my work on the modular structure of software systems, and mywork in software product-line engineering as primary inventor of the FAST process. Iam known for my ability to work closely with industrial software developmentorganizations to introduce new ideas into their development processes and measure theresulting impact.
