Luiz Cesar Marques Magalhães

Luiz Cesar Magalhaes holds degrees in Psychology (UFBA), Music (UFBA) and Engineering (UFPR). With a scholarship from CAPES, he concluded Master and PhD (1998) in Ethnomusicology at Columbia University, New York. He also has experience in psychology, with emphasis on Analytical Psychology, in which area has a specialization course (2010). Professionally he worked as soloist, chamber musician and violist of the OSBA (Symphonic Orchestra of the State of Bahia). He is currently associate professor at the School of Music of the Federal University of Bahia and the graduate program in music, where participates in the Center for research in Music Performance and Psychology (NUPSIMUS). As researcher and professor, he had the opportunity to guide numerous theses and dissertations in the following themes: music psychology, music and cognition, music education, special music education and curriculum in music.

Luiz Cesar Magalhães possui graduação em Psicologia (UFBA), Música (UFBA) e Engenharia (UFPR). Como bolsista da CAPES, concluiu mestrado e doutorado (1998) em Etnomusicologia pela Columbia University, New York. Possui também experiência em Psicologia, com ênfase Psicologia Analítica, área em que possui curso de especialização (2010). Profissionalmente atuou como solista, músico de câmara e violista da Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado da Bahia. Atualmente é professor associado da Escola de Música da UFBA e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Música, onde participa do Núcleo de Pesquisa em Performance Musical e Psicologia (NUPSIMUS). Como pesquisador tem orientado teses, dissertações e trabalhos de conclusão de curso nos seguintes temas: música e cognição, educação musical, educação musical especial e formação de professores.
