Gilberto De Martino Jannuzzi

I am Professor of Energy Systems at the Department of Energy, Mechanical Engineering Faculty , UNICAMP (University of Campinas), former Dean of the Graduate Program in Energy Planning of this University, and former the Head and current Senior Researcher at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Energy Studies at UNICAMP. I am member of the Board for Global Climate Research at the São Paulo Research Council. I am currently Director of the Brazilian Energy Programme of the UK Prosperity Fund. I am also the Executive Director of the International Energy Initiative (IEI) , a Southern-conceived, Southern-led and Southern-located South-South-North partnership. It is a small, independent, international non-governmental public-purpose organization led by internationally recognized energy experts, and with regional offices, staff and programs in Latin America , Africa and Asia. IEI is responsible for the publication of the Energy for Sustainable Development journal (Elsevier). I have a Ph.D. degree from Cambridge University, U.K. (Energy Research Group, Cavendish Laboratory), and spent some time as Visiting Scholar at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab ., USA, UNEP Centre on Energy and Environment, Denmark, Centre International de Recherche sur l?Environnement et le Développement , France, and others. I have been the Technical Coordinator of the National Energy R&D Fund at the Centre for Strategic Management and Studies, Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology. Previously, I was the Executive-Director of the Technology Transfer Office of the University of Campinas. I have 3 published books on Energy Planning and Energy Policies, over 30 papers published in archieved journals and have supervised over 35 MSc and PhD thesis. My interests are related to energy planning, with special emphasis on energy efficiency and conservation, renewables, energy and environmental policy, and technology transfer issues.

Possui graduação em Matemática (BSc) pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1978) e doutorado em Energy Studies pela University of Cambridge, Reino Unido (1983). É Professor Titular em Sistemas Energéticos da Faculdade de Engenharia Mecânica, Universidade Estadual de Campinas e Pesquisador Senior do Núcleo de Planejamento Energético NIPE da UNICAMP. Diretor do Programa Brasileiro de Energia do Programa Prosperidade do Reino Unido (2019-2022). Foi Diretor do Escritório de Transferência de Tecnologia da UNICAMP. Foi coordenador do Núcleo Interdisciplinar de Planejamento Energético da UNICAMP. Foi Diretor Executivo da International Energy Initiative-IEI, uma pequena, organização não-governamental internacional, independente e de utilidade pública que congrega especialistas em energia, reconhecidos internacionalmente e com escritórios regionais e programas na América Latina, África e Ásia. O IEI é responsável pela edição do periódico Energy for Sustainable Development, da editora Elsevier. Realizou estudos de pós-doutorado e estadias de ensino e pesquisa na Universidade da Califórnia-Berkeley, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, École de Mines-Nantes, Universidad de Zaragoza, UNEP Risø Centre on Energy, Climate and Sustainable Development (URC), entre outros. Desde o ano 2000 atua junto ao IPCC como Lead Author e Expert Reviewer. Foi secretário do Fundo de P&D CTEnerg no Ministério de Ciência e Tecnologia. É membro da Coordenação do Programa de Mudanças Climáticas Globais da FAPESP. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia Mecânica, com ênfase em Planejamento Energético, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: eficiência energética, pesquisa e desenvolvimento, políticas para desenvolvimento de C&T em energia, planejamento energético, mudanças climáticas e energia renovável. ≈
