Ricardo Brandes obtained his PhD Degree from the Université du Québec (Trois-Rivières, Canada) in 2020, his Master's Degree in 2017 and his Engineering Bachelor's Degree in 2012 from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Florianópolis, Brazil). Both degrees were obtained in the area of Materials Science & Engineering. Currently Ricardo works as a R&D Specialist in the area of flexible packaging mainly developing and evaluating new and more sustainable technologies, such as bio-based and compostable films produced by blown extrusion or lamination. He also has experience in R&D of sustainable biopolymeric films produced by bacteria or by electrospinning and casting evaporation techniques for the remediation of wastewater contamination. In addition, Ricardo worked with the development of household appliances focusing on polymeric parts produced by injection molding process.
