Cheng Liang Yee

Name for bibliography reference: Liang-Yee Cheng. Graduate in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from University of São Paulo (USP) in 1989. Graduated in Master (1992) and Doctor (1996) in Engineering, in the field of Planning and Construction (Architecture, Civil, Naval and Ocean Engineering) from Yokohama National University (YNU), Japan, with scholarship from the Ministry of Education of Japan. He was trainee in the Fluid and Combustion Department of Tokyo Research Institute, Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co. (IHI) with scholarship granted by the Association for Oversea Technical Training (AOTS). Currently he is assistant professor in the Department of Construction Engineering of the Polytechnic School of USP. Focusing mainly on computational modeling and simulation, he was coordinator of the teaching, research and extension group on Computational Technology Applied to Construction Engineering until 2014. From 2009, he is a senior researcher and member of the coordination committee of the laboratory Numerical Offshore Tank of USP, where he coordinates the MPS-TPN/USP research group that is dedicated to the development of an advanced simulation system based on a particle method. He was a member of the Board Committee of the Brazilian Association for Graphic Expression (ABEG) from 2000 to 2003, Visiting Associate Professor of the Institute of Advanced Sciences of YNU from 2015 to 2018. He was a member of the Board Committee of the Brazilian Association for computational Methods in Engineering (ABMEC) from 2016 to 2020 and director of Americas of International Society for Geometry and Graphics (ISGG) from 2017-2020, and is vice-president of ISGG for the 2021-2024 term.

Desde 2009 é pesquisador sênior e membro da comissão de coordenação do Laboratório de Tanque de Provas Numérico da USP, no qual coordena o grupo de pesquisa MPS-TPN/USP, que é dedicado no desenvolvimento de um sistema avançado de simulação baseado num método de partículas. Foi membro da diretoria da Associação Brasileira de Expressão Grafica (ABEG) entre 2000-2003 e Visiting Associate Professor do Institute of Advanced Sciences (IAS) da YNU, Japão, no triênio 2015-2018, membro da diretoria da Associação Brasileira de Métodos Computacionais em Engenharia (ABMEC) entre 2016-2020, e diretor das Américas da International Society for Geometry and Graphics (ISGG) entre 2017-2020, e é vice-presidente da ISGG na gestão 2021-2024.
