Josef Nossek

Possui doutorado em Electrotecnica pela Universidade Tecnológica de Viena (1980). Se juntou à Siemens AG, Alemanha, em 1974, onde trabalhou na concepção de filtros para sistemas de comunicação. De 1987 a 1989, foi o Chefe do Departamento de Design de Sistemas de Rádio, onde atuou na área de processamento de sinais VLSI de alta velocidade e rádio digital de microondas. De 1989 a 2016, foi chefe do Instituto de Circuitos e Teoria e Processamento de Sinal (NWS) na Universidade Técnica de Munique, Alemanha. Em 2016, ingressou na Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC), Fortaleza, como Professor Visitante Sênior. Atualmente, é Professor Titular do Departamento de Engenharia de Teleinformática (DETI) da UFC. Foi o Presidente Eleito e Presidente da IEEE Circuits and Systems Society, nos anos de 2001 e (2002 -2003), respectivamente. Foi presidente da "Verband der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik, e Informationstechnik (VDE)" em 2007 e Presidente da Convenção das Associações Nacionais de Engenheiros Elétricos da Europa (EUREL) em 2013. Recebeu o ITG Best Paper Award em 1988, o Prêmio Inovações da Mannesmann Mobilfunk (atualmente Vodafone) em 1998, e o Prêmio de Excelência em Ensino do Ministério da Ciência, Pesquisa e Arte da Bavária, em 1998. Recebeu a Medalha Jubileu de Ouro da IEEE Circuits and Systems Society por contribuições notórias à Sociedade em 1999, e o prêmio de Educação em 2008. Recebeu a Ordem do Mérito da República Federal da Alemanha (Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande) em 2008. Em 2011, recebeu o título de doutor honoris causa (Dr. h. C.) da Universidade Católica Peter Pazmany, Hungria. Em 2013, foi elevado ao grau de "Life Fellow" do IEEE. Recebeu ainda o anel de honra VDE, em 2014, e o título de Professor Emérito de Excelência, da Universidade Técnica de Munique, em 2016.

From 1987 to 1989, he was the Head of the Radio Systems Design Department, where he was instrumental in introducing high-speed VLSI signal processing into digital microwave radio. From 1989 to 2016, he has been the Head of the Institute of Circuit Theory and Signal Processing (NWS) at the Technische Universitat München, Germany. In 2016, he joined the Universidade Federal do Ceara, Fortaleza, Brasil, as a Full Professor. He was the President Elect, President, and Past President of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society in 2001, 2002, and 2003, respectively. He was the President of Verband der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik, und Informationstechnik (VDE) in 2007 and the President of the Convention of National Associations of Electrical Engineers of Europe (EUREL) in 2013. In 2011, he received the IEEE Guillemin-Cauer Best Paper Award and in 2013 the honorary doctorate (Dr. h. c.) from the Peter Pazmany Catholic University, Hungary. In 2013, he was elevated to the grade of Life Fellow of the IEEE. He received the VDE Ring of Honor in 2014 and the TUM Emeritus of Excellence in 2016.
