Esmeraldo Leal dos Santos

Doutorando em Agroecologia e Desenvolvimento Territorial pela Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco - UFRPE (Disciplinas integralizadas e qualificado em 2022), mestre em Sociologia pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba - UFPB (2008), especialista em Estudos Latino-Americanos pela Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora - UFJF (2005), graduado em Ciências Sociais pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe (2003). Pesquisador do Grupo de Estudo História Popular do Nordeste (UFS/CNPq) desde 2014. Educador e formador popular de movimentos sociais do campo, desde 1990. No âmbito administrativo, as últimas experiências são: Diretor de Ação Fundiária da Empresa de Desenvolvimento Agropecuário de Sergipe - EMDAGRO (12/2019 a 12/2023); Diretor de Assistência Técnica e Pesquisa da EMDAGRO (01/2019 a 12/2019); Secretário de Estado da Agricultura, Desenvolvimento Agrário e da Pesca do Estado de Sergipe - SEAGRI, (01/2015 a 03/2018). Nesse mesmo período, acumulou a função de Diretor Presidente da Empresa de Desenvolvimento Sustentável do Estado de Sergipe - PRONESE (2015 a 2018). Atualmente, desenvolve pesquisas nas áreas: Movimentos sociais, questão agrária, desenvolvimento territorial, agroecologia e sustentabilidade.

PhD in Agroecology and Territorial Development from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco - UFRPE (Disciplines completed and qualified in 2022), Master in Sociology from the Federal University of Paraíba - UFPB (2008), specialist in Latin American Studies from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora - UFJF (2005), graduated in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Sergipe (2003). Researcher of the Northeastern Popular History Study Group (UFS/CNPq) since 2014. Educator and popular trainer of rural social movements since 1990. At the administrative level, the latest experiences are: Director of Land Action at the Agricultural Development Company of Sergipe - EMDAGRO (12/2019 to 12/2023); Director of Technical Assistance and Research at EMDAGRO (01/2019 to 12/2019); Secretary of State for Agriculture, Agrarian Development and Fisheries of the State of Sergipe - SEAGRI, (01/2015 to 03/2018); in the same period, he accumulated the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Sustainable Development Company of the State of Sergipe-PRONESE (2015 to 2018). Currently, he develops research in the areas: Social movements, agrarian question, territorial development, agroecology and sustainability.
