Possui graduação em Medicina pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1991), mestrado e doutorado em Farmacologia Bioquímica e Molecular pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Membro sócio - Alzheimer`s Association. Membro do Latin America and Caribbean Consortium on Dementia (LAC-CD). Membro do Instituto Nacional de Neurotecnologia Responsável (INCT-NeurotecR). Orientadora dos programas de pós graduação em Ciências Aplicadas à Saúde do Adulto e de Medicina Molecular da Faculdade de Medicina da UFMG. Vice coordenadora do Serviço de Geriatria do Hospital das Clínicas da UFMG. Médica da Fundação Hospitalar do Estado de Minas Gerais- Hospital João XXIII. Professora associada do departamento clínica médica da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Pesquisadora na área de envelhecimento, com ênfase em doenças neurodegenerativas e doenças cardiovasculares, da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Tem experiência em Clínica Médica, Medicina intensiva, gestão em saúde, geriatria e genética humana. Linhas de pesquisa em: comprometimento cognitivo leve, Doença de Alzheimer, biomarcadores na doença de Alzheimer, envelhecimento, polimorfismos genéticos e cuidados paliativos. Coordenadora do ambulatório de Comprometimento Cognitivo Leve e demência de Alzheimer do Instituto Jenny de Andrade Faria do Hospital das Clínicas da UFMG. Líder do grupo de pesquisa "Envelhecimento e doenças neurodegenerativas". Pesquisadora nível 2 (CNPq). Pós doutorado em genética da doença de Alzheimer, Universidade de Colônia - Alemanha
