Lise Fernanda Sedrez

LISE SEDREZ é Professora Associada de História da América no Instituto de História da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Possui graduação em História do Brasil pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (1991), mestrado em Estudos de Políticas Ambientais pelo New Jersey Institute of Technology (1998), mestrado e doutorado em História da América Latina pela Stanford University (2005). Lise foi professora na California State University, Long Beach, de 2005 a 2011. Recebeu a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship para o ano de 2010-2011. Foi editora responsável da TOPOI. Revista de História (A1), entre 2011 e 2015 e coordenadora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em História Social (Capes 7), entre 2018 e 2021. Em 2016, concluiu seus estudos de pós-doutorado no Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society, em Munique, Alemanha. De 2017 a 2021, participou do projeto multidisciplinar Occupy Climate Change!, coordenado pelo Laboratório de Humanidades Ambientais do Real Instituto de Tecnologia, Estocolmo, Suécia. Realizou estágio pós-doutoral pela UFMG em 2022, que incluiu uma Landhaus Fellowship do Rachel Carson Center. É Bolsista de Produtividade CNPq Nível 2 e membro do Coletivo Inaiá, coletivo feminista. Tem experiência na área de História das Américas, com ênfase em História Ambiental e História Urbana. Seus principais temas de pesquisa são: história ambiental urbana, ambientalismo, história digital, desastres sócio-ambientais e Baía de Guanabara.

LISE SEDREZ, an environmental historian, teaches History of the Americas at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Lise majored in History at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (1991), has an M.A. in History from Stanford University (2003), a M.Sc. on Environmental Policy Studies from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (1998) and a Ph.D. in Latin American History from Stanford University (2005). She has worked and published in the United States and Brazil, is the co-editor of the series Latin American Landscapes, by the University of Arizona Press. She served as Coordinator of the Graduate Program on Social History (PPGHIS/UFRJ) between 2018 and 2021 and was the chief-editor of the history journal Topoi, from 2011 to 2015. Lise is also a member of the Executive Board of SOLCHA (Sociedade Latino-Americana y Caribeña de Historia Ambiental). She was a Fellow at the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society in Munich, Germany, in 2015-2016, and again a Landhaus RCC Fellow in 2022. She has concluded a post-doctoral residence at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in 2022. From 2017 to 2022, she collaborated with the interdisciplinary project Occupy Climate Change!, coordinated by the Environmental Humanities Lab, from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden. Lise is a member of the feminist collective Inaiá and of the ASEH's Committee on Diversity, Inclusion and Equity. Her research interests include urban environmental history, history of disasters and digital history. She has recently published on the history of environmentalism, Guanabara Bay, on the environmental history of the BRICS and on floods in Rio de Janeiro e Buenos Aires.
