Concluiu o Doutorado pela Indiana University (EUA) e título de PhD em Ciências Ambientais e o Mestrado pela Tulane University (EUA) e título de MA em Antropologia Cultural. Pós-Doutorado pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Ambientais (USP-PROCAM)/Indiana University (EUA). Atualmente é Pesquisadora B do Núcleo de Estudos e Pesquisas Ambientais (NEPAM / UNICAMP) e Professora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ambiente e Sociedade (NEPAM- IFCH/ UNICAMP), nota 6 CAPES ? CienAmb. Bolsista Produtividade CNPq - PQ-2. Coordenadora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ambiente e Sociedade (2016-2018). Desde 2001 é Pesquisadora Associada do CASEL/ACT - Indiana University (IU, EUA) e colabora há mais de 10 anos com o CEDLA (Holanda). Guest Research no Department of Anthropology e ACT da Indiana University (2003-2004, 2010, 2014) e no Center of Study and Documentation of Latin América (CEDLA, Holanda) (2012, 2014). Lidera o Grupo de Pesquisa (CNPq) em Ecologia Humana e Governança e coordena o Laboratório de Ecologia Humana (LEHMA). Orientação e coorientação de alunos de Doutorado. Participou de mais de 40 eventos (21 internacional). Coordenação de 7 projetos de pesquisa financiados pela FAPESP e CNPq. Recentemente, coordenou o projeto FAPESP (AGENTS) vinculado ao Programa Belmont Forum/Norface T2S (Transformation to Sustainability) com envolvimento de 6 universidades de 4 países (Brasil, EUA, Suécia e Holanda) e atualmente coordena o projeto temático FAPESP (ENLACES ou LINKAGES em inglês) vinculado ao Programa Brasil-Holanda da FAPESP-NWO do Edital Biobased Economy. Áreas de interesse são governança ambiental e dos recursos comuns, desenvolvimento rural sustentável, análise institucional, antropologia ambiental e ecologia humana.
