Julio Flávio da Silva Ferreira

Doutorando do programa Pós-Colonialismos e Cidadania Global, dirigido pelo CES (Centro de Estudos Sociais) da Universidade de Coimbra (UC). Pós-graduado (2012) e Mestrando em Antropologia Médica pela Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, também da UC. Possui graduação em Ciências Sociais pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (2005), com pós-graduação em Antropologia "Multiculturalismo e Identidades" pelo ISCTE-IUL (Lisbon University Institute), Portugal (2006), e Mestrado em Antropologia pela mesma instituição (2008). Desde 2002, realiza pesquisa sobre psiquiatria transcultural e práticas terapêuticas 'alternativas'. Executou projeto de pesquisa sobre A Luta Antimanicomial e a Reforma Psiquiátrica no Brasil como pesquisador/bolseiro de iniciação científica da PUC-SP. Desde 2006, realiza pesquisa sobre a Psiquiatria Transcultural em Portugal, voltando-se para a relação entre saúde e imigração sob o olhar da Antropologia Médica Crítica. Para este projeto, foi bolsista do Alto Comissariado para a Imigração e o Diálogo Intercultural português (ACIDI) e do Centro de Estudos de Antropologia Social (CEAS-ISCTE). Desde 2009, desenvolve pesquisa sobre as práticas terapêuticas nas religiões afro-brasileiras na rota Brasil-Portugal em perspectiva pós-colonial.

PhD candidate in the Program Post-colonialisms and Global Citizenship, directed by CES (University of Coimbra). Master student in Medical Anthropology at the Faculty of Science and Technology, also of UC. Graduated in Social Sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (2005), with post-graduate studies in Anthropology "Multiculturalism and Identities" (ISCTE ? Lisbon University Institute, Portugal, 2006), and a MA holder in Cultural Anthropology from the same institution (2008). Since 2002, conducts research on psychiatry and therapeutic practices. Performed a research project on ?The Anti-Asylum and Psychiatric Reform in Brazil? as a researcher / junior scholar at PUC-SP. Since 2006, conducts research on Transcultural Psychiatry in Portugal, focusing the relationship between health and immigration from the perspective of Critical Medical Anthropology. For this project, was Fellow of the High Commissioner for Immigration and Intercultural Dialogue (ACIDI/Portugal) and the Centre for Studies in Social Anthropology (CEAS-ISCTE). Since 2009 develops investigations into the healing practices in afro-Brazilian religions in Brazil-Portugal route, with special attention to Umbanda, its rituals variations, its transnationalization processes, and religious performances.
