Maria Alejandra Caporale Madi
Maria Alejandra Madi is an economist that holds an MSc in Philosophy and a PhD in Economics. Her academic career includes a long-term professorship at the State University of Campinas (Brazil) and visiting professorships at the University of Manitoba (Canada) and at the University of Kassel (Germany), in addition to a position as Avocational Lecturer at Steinbes University Berlin. Her recent research focuses on the economic and social callenges of globalization in an interdisciplinary approach, in addition to the development of advanced studies in the philosophy of economics.
Currently, she is Visiting Professor at Green Economics Isntitute ( UK), and Fellow at Center for Market Education (Malaysia). She is also Chair of the World Economics Association (WEA) Online Conferences and Editor of the WEA Conferences Book Series. She is also Assistant Editor of the International Journal of Pluralism and Economics Education and member of the board of the International Journal of Green Economics.
Besides having published book chapters, research papers and book reviews, she co-edited some of the Green Economics Institute books and WEA books: Her latest authored books include The Dark Side of Nudges, Private Equity Globalisation, Global Finance and Development, Small Business in Brazil and Pluralist Readings in Economics, Complexidade Economia e Sociedade, A philosophical look at Keynes and Hayek. . His latest co-authored book is Introducing a New Economics: pluralist, sustainable & progressive. She blogs at WEA Pedagogy Blog (weapedagogy.wordpress.com/).
Among other activities in professional organizations, she is Vice-President of the Ordem dos Economistas do Brasil.
bachelor's at Ciências Econômicas from Universidade de São Paulo (1980), master's at Economy from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1986) and doctorate at Economy from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1993). Has experience in Economics, focusing on Monetary and Financial Theory, acting on the following subjects: mercado acionário, assimetria de informações and governança corporativa.
