Antonella Gallo

Antonella Gallo graduates in Architecture at Iuav University of Venice in 1991. She is PhD in Architectural Composition in 1997, with an academic defense entitled Architettura e Retorica. La costruzione del testo ( Architecture and Rethoric. The text construction ). From 1999 to 2001 as adjunct professor she teaches at Iuav where she holds the degree courses in Teorie e Tecniche della Progettazione Architettonica (Theories and Techniques of Architectural Design).From 2003 she is member of the teaching staff for PHD program in Architectural Composition.From 2006 she is Associate Professor in Composizione Architettonica e Urbana (Architectural and Urban Design) (ICAR-14) at the Faculty of Architecture of the Iuav University where she coordinates the studios Laboratorio di Progettazione architettonica 1 (Architectural Design Studio, for undergraduate degree programme in architecture) and Laboratorio Integrato di Progettazione Architettonica (Integrated Architctural Design Studio for graduate degree programme in architecture, track architecture and urban design).Her main area of study involves the following fields of research: regeneration and urban conversion of abandoned areas in metropolitan contexts; the concept of dwelling, its techniques and its figurative connotations; transmissibility of the design experience: configuration, materiality, nature and meaning of architectural form, construction and symbolic dimension in contemporary architecture, with reference to architects such as Jo e Plečnik, John Hejduk, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Lina Bo Bardi. Regarding her involvement with the works of Bo Bardi, for which she organises international exhibitions (with Luciano Semerani and Giovanni Marras), the studies based on original documentation brought about the production of newly elaborated material that was presented at the Meta-eventi section of the 9th Biennial of Architecture in Venice (September-November 2004) entitled: Lina Bo Bardi Architetto as well as at an exhibit entitled: "Lina Bo Bardi Arquiteto", MASP- Art Museum of Sao Paolo, Brazil, 2006.
