Raphael Grazziano

Adjunct Professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, in the Department of Architecture and Urbanism of the Technological Center, where he teaches subjects of Theory and History. At the same department, he is currently the coordinator of the Theory and History Area. He is a member of the UFSC Editorial Board, representing the Technological Center. Since 2015, he is an Associate Researcher of the research group Critical Thinking and Contemporary City (PC3), based at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (FAUUSP). His doctorate, regarding the critical analysis of environmental assessment systems, was carried out at FAUUSP (2014-2019), in the area of ​​History and Tenets of Architecture and Urbanism. He holds two undergradutate degrees, in architecture and urbanism at FAUUSP (2012) and in philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH-USP, 2017). Among international education and research experiences, he undertook a stint during his undergraduate degree in architecture at the École Normale Supérieure dArchitecture Paris-La Villette (2010-2011) and was a Visiting Assistant in Research at Yale University (2018). He has already presented works at events hold at institutions such as Jean Monnet University (France), Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain) and University of Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). Some of his main publications are the co-authorship of the book The New Urban Condition (Routledge, 2021), with the chapter The Legitimized Reproduction of a Corporate Typology (honorable mention in the book chapter category at the 2022 ANPARQ Award), and the essay Baltimore, Ainda, placed third in the 3rd. His main research subjects are the theory of modern and contemporary architecture and the critical theory of evaluation indexes of architecture and urbanism, both with an emphasis on the mediation between architectural design, space and urban culture. Professor Adjunto na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, no Departamento de Arquitetura e Urbanismo do Centro Tecnológico, onde ministra disciplinas do Núcleo de Teoria e História. No mesmo departamento, é atualmente coordenador do Núcleo de Teoria e História. É membro titular, como representante do Centro Tecnológico, no Conselho da Editora da UFSC. É Pesquisador Associado desde 2015 do grupo de pesquisa Pensamento Crítico e Cidade Contemporânea (PC3), sediado na Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade de São Paulo (FAUUSP). Seu doutorado, a respeito da análise crítica de sistemas de avaliação ambiental, foi realizado na FAUUSP (2014-2019), na área de História e Fundamentos da Arquitetura e Urbanismo. Possui duas graduações, em arquitetura e urbanismo pela FAUUSP (2012) e em filosofia pela Faculdade de Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas (FFLCH-USP, 2017). Dentre as experiências internacionais de formação e pesquisa, realizou um período sanduíche durante a graduação em arquitetura na École Normale Supérieure dArchitecture Paris - La Villette (2010-2011) e um estágio de pesquisa de doutorado na Universidade de Yale (2018). Já apresentou trabalhos em eventos ligados a instituições como a Univerdade Jean Monnet (França), a Universidade Politécnica de Madri (Espanha) e a Universidade de Adis Abeba (Etiópia). Algumas de suas principais publicações são a co-autoria do livro The New Urban Condition (Routledge, 2021), com o capítulo The Legitimized Reproduction of a Corporate Typology (menção honrosa na categoria capítulo de livro no Prêmio ANPARQ 2022), e o ensaio Baltimore, Ainda, terceiro colocado no 3o. Seus temas principais de pesquisa são a teoria da arquitetura moderna e contemporânea e a teoria crítica de índices de avaliação da arquitetura e do urbanismo, ambos com ênfase na mediação entre o projeto arquitetônico, o espaço e a cultura urbana.
