David Eduardo Ávalos Ahumada
I am a sociologist from the University of Chile, graduated in 2013. There I began to specialize in the study of rural societies through my final thesis work. I have worked mostly in areas that involve quantitative research, in Chilean institutions such as the National Television Council, the University of Chile, the National Institute of Statistics, where I have participated both from the collection of primary information through surveys, as well as its processing and analysis through various computer software.
I also have experience working in an international institution such as the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences, Ecuador, in which I participated as a researcher for the Academic Development Fund (FDA, 2017) that diagnosed the social differentiation processes of rural communities in the canton of Cayambe, in northern Ecuador.
These experiences have given me a vast work experience with various human groups in Chile, which has contributed to enrich my experience as a professional in the social sciences.
Between 2014 and 2017, I lived in Quito, Ecuador, where I completed a master's degree in rural development at Flacso Ecuador, with my thesis entitled "Dynamics of family agriculture around flower production in the parish of Tabacundo, Ecuador". I graduated from this program under the supervision of Professor Luciano Martinez Valle.
Today I am studying for a doctorate in Sociology at UFRGS in Porto Alegre, Brazil, where I am studying the construction of markets by fruit producers in some communes of the province of Curicó, Chile, a thesis directed by Professor Sergio Schneider.
