Profa. Dra. Jane Mary Pereira de Almeida

Jane de Almeida (janedealmeida.com) é professora e pesquisadora da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP). Foi Visiting Fellow no departamento de História da Arte na Harvard University e professora convidada do Visual Arts Department da Universidade da Califórnia, San Diego (UCSD), nos anos de 2006, 2007, 2008 e 2018 (https://courses.ucsd.edu/coursemain.aspx?section=621293). Em 2018 foi artista em residência do Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination (http://imagination.ucsd.edu/about), na UCSD e em 1999 foi professora convidada no Boston College. Publica livros e artigos sobre arte, cinema e ciência. Foi curadora das exposições de artes visuais Ordenação e Vertigem: Bispo do Rosário (Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil), Harun Farocki: Programando o Visível no Paço das Artes e Ulla, Ulla, Ulla. Marcianos, intergalácticos e humanos (Casanova), Off-the-radar (Visual Arts Gallery-UCSD).Fez curadoria de filmes ( FILE/ FILE Transcontinental), das mostras Metacinemas (CCBB), Grupo Dziga Vertov (CCBB), Alexander Kluge: o quinto ato (CCBB), entre outras. Jane de Almeida dirigiu o curta metragem 2014k (exibido durante a Copa do Mundo de futebol da FIFA, Joanesburgo e no CineGrid, San Diego), o média metragem EstereoEnsaios Rio de Janeiro (exibido em Paris na Maison de L'Amérique Latine, no CineGrid em San Diego, na Mostra Sesc de Filmes de Artes, na Mostra Tecnofagias, no Instituto Tomie Ohtake), os curtas Openmouthed, The diving , Pixel Race (exibidos no CineGrid em San Diego e no TIFF - Tokyo International Film Festival), e o média metragem EstereoEnsaios São Paulo (CineSesc), LOGA: Mars Projections (SESC, CCBB). Foi co-roteirista dos filmes 500 Almas (longa-metragem, 2004, com vários prêmios nacionais e internacionais), Invenção de Limite (premiado com o Hubert Bals Fund).Coordenou o Grupo de Trabalho Sensemaking (RNP), Projeto Marte, entre outros. Jane de Almeida possui graduação em Psicologia pela PUC/MG (1990), mestrado em Comunicação e Semiótica pela PUC/SP (CNPq 130927/1993-7, 1995), doutorado em Comunicação e Semiótica pela PUC/SP (estágio no Boston College/EUA- CAPES 1653-98-9, 2000). Realizou seu pós-doutorado em História da Arte na Harvard University (CAPES (2232-04-9). Foi professora e orientadora do programa de Mestrado e Doutorado em Educação, Arte e História da Cultura da Universidade Mackenzie, onde foi coordenadora do Programa de 2009 a 2011 e em 2014. Pesquisa cinema e arte contemporâneos, as novas imagens computadorizadas e filmes científicos.

Jane de Almeida is a professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP). She was visiting fellow at the History of Art and Architecture department at Harvard University and a professor in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of California at San Diego (https://courses.ucsd.edu/coursemain.aspx?section=621293 / UCSD) in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2018. Jane published the following books: Witty Findings (Educ / FAPESP), Ordering and Vertigo: Arthur Bispo do Rosario (ED. 2 vols., CCBB), Dziga Vertov Group (ED CCBB / MinC / witz) and Alexander Kluge: The fifth act (CosacNaify), among others. She curated the first festival in 4k in Brazil for the Electronic Language International Festival (FILE) in 2008 and organized the first broadcast film super high-definition (4k) from Latin America to the U.S. (UCSD) and Japan (Keio University ) over photonic networks at FILE 2009 (FILE Transcontinental). Currently coordinates the Working Group Advanced Applications of Remote Visualization/ Content for RNP - Rede NAcional de Ensino e Pesquisa. The GT (Working Group) produced in 2011 in the 4k3D film EstereoEnsaios which was exhibited at MAM (Museum of Modern Art), Digital Culture Festival at the Cine Odeon in Cinegrid of Rio de Janeiro and San Diego, USA. The film was also showed at the Festival of Films on 3D Art at SESC and as instalation in the exhibition Tecnofagias at Instituto Tomie Ohtake. Jane de Almeida holds a degree in Psychology from PUC / MG (1990), Masters in Communication and Semiotics at PUC / SP (CNPq 130927/1993-7 support, 1995), Ph.D. in Communication and Semiotics at PUC / SP (internship at Boston College / U.S. backed CAPES 1653-98-9, 2000). He did postdoctoral studies in Art History at Harvard University with CAPES (04/09/2232) support. She was curator of the exhibitions Ordering and Vertigo (Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil/2003) and the film festivals Metacinemas (2004), Dziga Vertov Group (2005) and Alexander Kluge: the fifth act (2007), among others. She is a member and organizer of the CineGrid Brasil workshop. Interests: Cinematic Arts, New Cinemas, Moving Image in Contemporary Art.
