Mateus de Sousa Van Stralen

He holds a degree in Architecture from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) (2005). Master's degree in Architecture from UFMG (2009) and PhD in Architecture from UFMG (2017). He is currently an assistant professor at UFMG, a researcher at LAGEAR and a director at KUBUS4D. He was a researcher at the Technological Center of Minas Gerais (CETEC-MG), is a member of the executive board of the American Society for Cybernetics, member of the Systemic Degisn Association, and member of the Scientific Committee of the Iberoamerican Society of Digital Graphics (SIGRADI). He has experience in the area of Architecture and Urbanism, with emphasis on Planning and Building Projects, working mainly on the following topics: Computational Design (digital design and manufacturing processes, material and physical computing, interactive architecture, presentation and representation of architectural design, etc.), second-order cybernetics, architectural design and urban design.

Possui graduação em Arquitetura pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2005). mestrado em Arquitetura pela UFMG (2009) e doutorado em Arquitetura pela UFMG (2017). Atualmente é professor adjunto na UFMG, diretor da KUBUS4D e pesquisador nos laboratórios LAGEAR e NEXT. Foi pesquisador do Centro Tecnológico de Minas Gerais (CETEC-MG), é membro do conselho executivo da American Society for Cybernetics e membro do Systemic Design Association. É revisor dos periódicos Kybernetes (Inglaterra), Constructuvist Foundation, FormakAdemisk e membro do Comitê Científico da Sociedade Ibero-americana de Gráfica Digital (SIGRADI).Tem experiência na área de Arquitetura e Urbanismo, com ênfase em Planejamento e Projetos da Edificação, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Design Computacional (processos de projeto e fabricação digitais, computação material e computação física, arquitetura interativa, apresentação e representação de projeto arquitetônico, etc), tecnologias imersívas, cibernética de segunda ordem, design sistêmico, projeto arquitetônico e desenho urbano.
