Ana Rosa Linde-Arias

Ana Rosa Linde Arias is a Graduate in Biology, 1986 and Master in Genetics 1988 by Oviedo University, Spain. Ph. D. In Environmental Sciences, Hokkaido University Japan, 1994. Doctor in Biology, Oviedo University Spain, 1994. Post-doctoral Fellow (1999- 2002) at Merck Research Laboratories, USA. Awarded a Productivity grant from CNPq. From 2010 to 2015, she was the Scientific coordinator of a Japan-Brazil research collaboration between the CDTS, Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Brazil) and the Kitasato Institute (Japan), specifically with the research group led by Prof. Satoshi Omura, 2015 Nobel Laureate of Medicine. From 2016 till 2019 she was a visiting Scholar at University of Massachusetts Boston, US, where she was the Principal Investigator of a study on the Zika epidemic and its impact on women at a transnational level. She is currently a Senior Research Fellow at The Gaston Institute, Umass-Boston where she is a member of a EPA-funded project to assess the Environmental and Health impact of the military industry in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Till the end of 2022, she was a Senior Researcher at Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) where she worked on Health Assessments of the impact of the Vale do Rio Doce, tailing disaster and Visiting Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) where she coordinated a project about syndemics on the City of Rio de Janeiro with funding of the FAPERJ. She is currently a collaborator professor at the Instituto de Biofisica Eduardo Chagas (IBCCF), UFRJ. She has wide International experience in academia and international organizations as she has worked in institutions in Brazil, Spain, Germany, Japan and the US. In these positions, she implemented new research lines, coordinated multidisciplinary groups and developed international partnerships between institutions. She has published over 70 scientific articles based on research carried out in Europe, Asia, North America and South America. Research topics include: i) Assessment of the effects of pollution in aquatic ecosystems ii) Biomarkers as tools in environmental health studies iii) Effects of pollution in Public Health. iv) Epidemics and Public Health. She also possesses extensive teaching experience at international level, as a founding faculty member of the Postgraduate program on Health and Environment at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Brazil). She is a lecturer at the European master?s in biotechnology of Environment and Health. MBEH, Oviedo University, (Spain). Other teaching positions include Ph.D. program in Natural Resources Management and M.Sc. (Erasmus Mundus) in Marine Biodiversity Conservation at Oviedo University (Spain), and MSc program in Environmental Governance at the United Nations University (Japan). She was the promoter and founder President of the Association of Spanish Scientists in Japan (ACE Japan) with the aim of fostering partnerships among scientists working in academia, industry, government, foundations and as entrepreneurs. She was also advisor of the Spanish and Brazilian Embassies in Japan on scientific matters and Spanish Embassy Representative at EU Science & Technology Counselors? Meetings. Her fields of expertise include Toxicology, Global, Public and Environmental Health.

Has experience in Collective Health, acting on the following subjects: metalotioneina, peixe, metales pesados, bioindicadores and ecosistemas acuaticos.
