He holds a bachelor's degree in Geography from the Federal University of Santa Maria (1998) and a Master's degree in Rural Development from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2001) and a PhD in Agroecology - SOCLA (Latin American Scientific Society of Agroecology) and the University of Antioquia. Full Professor of Agroecology at UERGS in Agronomy - Vacaria Unit. He completed two Research and Extension courses in Italy in 1998 and 2004, with a scholarship received after selection by the Italian Government. He has experience in the area of ​​Rural Development, with emphasis on Agriculture, Society and Nature, working mainly in the following areas: Agroecology, Territorial and Local Development, Family Agroindustry, Sustainability, Environmental Education, Food Security and Sovereignty, Reconstruction, Succession, Gender and Youth. He has extensive knowledge in matters related to family farming with several fieldwork developed, especially in family agriculture, agroecology and food security and sovereignty in Latin American countries and in Italy.

Pós Doutor em DEMOGRAFIA, pela Universidad Nacional de Córdoba - Argentina. Doutor em AGROECOLOGIA - (Sociedad Científica Latino-americana de Agroecologia -SOCLA e Universidad de Antioquia (2016). Mestre em Desenvolvimento Rural pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2001) e Licenciatura em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (1998). Pesquisador e professor adjunto da Universidade Estadual do Rio Grande do Sul nos cursos de Agronomia, Agroecologia e Gestão Ambiental. Pesquisa e atua na área de Desenvolvimento Sustentável com ênfase em Agricultura, Sociedade e Natureza, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: agroecologia, agricultura familiar, pobreza rural, recampenização, gênero e juventude rural, desenvolvimento sustentável, agroindústria familiar, agrobiodiversidade, geografia agrária, regional e econômica. politicas públicas, segurança e soberania alimentar, agroecossistemas, agroflorestas e educação ambiental.
