Graduated in Forestry - Federal University of Viçosa (1972), Master of Forest Science - University of Washington (1976) and Ph.D. in Forest Science/ Ergonomics - University of British Columbia (1984). He has specialization in Work Safety Engineering - FUMEC (2001) and the title of Certified Ergonomist ABERGO. He is currently a professor at Federal University of Viçosa and coordinator of the Laboratory of Ergonomics - ERGOLAB. He has experience in the area of Forest Resources and Forest Engineering, with emphasis on Forest Operations Techniques, acting on the following themes: ergonomics, forest harvesting, forest mechanization, forest transportation and work safety.

Atualmente é professor titular da Universidade Federal de Viçosa e coordenador do Laboratório de Ergonomia - LABERGO. Tem experiência na área de Recursos Florestais e Engenharia Florestal, com ênfase em Técnicas e Operações Florestais, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: ergonomia, colheita florestal, mecanização florestal, transporte florestal e segurança do trabalho.
