Danillo Costa Lima

Master and Doctoral Student in Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), in the History of Philosophy line of research. My master's research focused primarily on the work of the late Neoplatonist Proclus, and secondarily on that of other members of this school such as Plotinus, Porphyry, Sirianus, Simplicius and Olympiodorus. I am mainly interested in the epistemological, ethical, metaphysical and mystical-religious issues addressed by these authors as part of their late philosophical synthesis of the intellectual heritage of the Hellenic world. My doctoral research, in turn, is centered on the "Indian school of recognition", or Pratyabhijñā, developed a thousand years ago by Kashmiri thinkers Somānanda, Utapaladeva, Abhinavagupta and Kṣemarāja. I am mainly interested in the way in which these thinkers synthesize and articulate several classical currents of Indian philosophy in a unique conception of the relationship between consciousness and language, around which they articulate a very rich conception of subjectivity and freedom. Based on these developments, they argue in favor of a metaphysics that greatly anticipates the thinking of German post-Kantian idealists such as Fichte, Schelling and Hegel: I am therefore interested in the comparative study of these idealist currents that until now have not been substantially put into dialogue.

Mestre e Doutorando em Filosofia pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP), na linha de pesquisa da História da Filosofia. Minha pesquisa de mestrado esteve centrada primariamente na obra do neoplatônico tardio Proclo, e secundariamente aquela de outros membros dessa escola como Plotino, Porfírio, Siriano, Simplício e Olimpiodoro. Me interessam principalmente as questões epistemológicas, éticas, metafísicas e místico-religiosas trabalhadas por esses autores como parte de sua síntese filosófica tardia da herança intelectual do mundo helênico. Minha pesquisa de doutorado, por sua vez, é centrada sobre a "escola indiana do reconhecimento", ou Pratyabhijñā, desenvolvida há mil anos pelos pensadores caxemires Somānanda, Utapaladeva, Abhinavagupta e Kṣemarāja. Me interessa principalmente o modo como esses pensadores sintetizam e articulam diversas correntes clássicas da filosofia indiana numa concepção única da relação entre a consciência e a linguagem, em torno da qual articulam uma riquíssima concepção da subjetividade e da liberdade. A partir desses desenvolvimentos, argumentam em prol de uma metafísica que em muito antecipa o pensamento de idealistas pós-kantianos alemães como Fichte, Schelling e Hegel: me interessa, assim, o estudo comparativo dessas correntes idealistas que até o presente não foram substancialmente postas em diálogo.
