Claudio Alexis Rodríguez Castillo

Research Associate at the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean Marine Engineering (NAOME), University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. Associate professor of the Dept of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (DENO) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil and researcher of the Laboratory of Ocean Technology (LabOceano), UFRJ, Brazil. His lines of research are focused on the application of physical and numerical modelling of the dynamics and stability of ships and offshore floating platforms, including ocean renewable devices (offshore wind turbines, wave energy converters, etc.). His academic activities also include the lecturing in undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering: Seakeeping and Manoeuvrability of Ships; Hydrodynamics of Offshore Systems, Experimental Hydrodynamics. Have also lectured for the Joint Brazil-Japan Masters program through the University of Tokyo (2017-2019), and also at Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, Peru (2005-2008). Participates actively at the International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC). Have served as chairman of the Ocean Engineering Committee (2017-2021) and currently serves in the Stability in Waves Committee. Member of the Stability RD Committee of the International Stability Committee (STAB Conference). Associate editor of the special Issue "Hybrid Systems for Marine Energy Harvesting" of the Journal Marine Science and Engineering (MDPI). Member of the Advisory Committee of the Research Centre in Naval and Industrial Technologies at University of La Coruña, Spain. Have actively participated in 10 cooperation projects related to the hydrodynamics of offshore systems, mainly in cooperation with Petrobras Research Centre. Author of more than 30 scientific articles. Have acted as reviewer for several international journals. Have participated in a number of examination boards of undergraduate and graduate theses. Have supervised students of B.Sc., M.Sc. and D.Sc. levels.
