Emanuelle Rodrigues dos Santos

Emanuelle Santos is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of English and Literary Studies at the University of Warwick, where she also teaches. Her research focuses on the contemporary literatures of the five Portuguese-speaking African Countries, inquiring the ways in which the nation and national identity have been represented in their 21st Century fiction. Considering these societies? aftermaths of independence, the research aims both at a comparative assessment of current pathways of national discourses in literature as well as a critique of postcolonial theory, as it points to the need of supplementary theoretical tools to analyse situated realities of contemporary postcolonies. Her current reserach analyzes uneveness in current theories of World(-)Literature and their impact in the field of Portuguese Studies.

Pesquisadora Associada no Departamento de Inglês e Literatura Comparada na Universidade de Warwick, Reino Unido. Sua pesquisa tem como foco as representações identitárias nas Literaturas Africanas em Português do século XXI. Considerando as realidades pós-independência dos cinco países em questão, a investigação questiona tanto os discursos corrente em torno do tema da nação, quanto a pertinência do aparato teórico dos Estudos Pós-coloniais nestes contextos. Investiga também as relações de desigualdade e hegemonia nas correntes contemporâneas de estudo das World(-)Literatures e seu impacto no campo dos Estudos das Literaturas em Português. Mestra em Estudos Comparados de Literaturas em Língua Portuguesa pela Universidade de São Paulo, onde desenvolveu sua pesquisa sobre a literatura contemporânea angolana. Possui bacharelado em Letras com ênfase em Literatura de Línguas Inglesa e Portuguesa pela Universidade de São Paulo. Foco de interesse atual em estudos pós-colonais, literaturas africanas em língua portuguesa e inglesa, estudos acerca do nacionalismo, identidade, estudos culturais, teoria e crítica literária, pós-modernidade, pós-modernismo, world-literature e literatura comparada.
