Full Professor at the Faculty of Engineering at the São Paulo State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP), Guaratinguetá Campus. Current Pro-Rector of Research at UNESP. He was Executive Coordinator of the Institute for Advanced Studies of the Sea (IEAMAR) at UNESP, in 2020, as Deputy Director of the Faculty of Engineering at UNESP, from 2016 to 2020 and as Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering at UNESP from 2013 to 2016. Graduated in Technological Chemistry from UNESP (1995), Master's degree in Physics from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (1998), Ph. Institute of Aeronautics and Space (2005), by the Composite Institute (Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe Gmbh), Kaiserslautern, Germany (2010) and by the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden, Germany (2011) and Livre-Docência by UNESP (2011). He served as a Visiting Researcher at the University of California at San Diego, USA, in 2015. He was an associate editor of the Journal of Aerospace Technology and Management from 2009 to 2017. He has several collaborations in research with international groups, highlighting: Composite Institute (Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe Gmbh), Kaiserslautern, Germany; Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden, Germany; University of California at San Diego, USA; University of Delaware, USA and University of Delft in the Netherlands. He has experience in Aerospace Engineering, with emphasis on Advanced Composites, Polymeric Materials and Vitreous Carbon, working mainly on the following topics: polymer composites, rheology and thermal analysis of composites and polymers, hybrid composites, nanostructured composites, composite processing and evaluation of environmental effect on advanced structural composites. Author of the book "Structural Composites - Technology and Practice" (2011). He has been a member of the area coordination of CNPq-EM - Mechanical, Naval and Oceanic and Aerospace Engineering, since 2022.

Possui diversas colaborações em pesquisas com grupos internacionais, destacando-se: Composite Institute (Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe Gmbh), Kaiserslautern, Alemanha; Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden, Alemanha; Universidade da Califórnia em San Diego, USA; University of Delaware, USA e University of Delft na Holanda. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia Aeroespacial, com ênfase em Compósitos Avançados, Materiais Poliméricos e Carbono Vítreo, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: compósitos poliméricos, reologia e análises térmicas de compósitos e polímeros, compósitos híbridos, compósitos nanoestruturados, processamento de compósitos e avaliação do efeito ambiental em compósitos estruturais avançados. Autor do livro "Compósitos Estruturais - Tecnologia e Prática" (2011). Atua como membro da coordenação de área do CNPq- EM - Engenharias Mecânica, Naval e Oceânica e Aeroespacial, desde 2022.
