He holds a degree in Industrial Chemistry from Universidade Federal Fluminense (2002) and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Universidade Federal Fluminense (2007). He attended postdoctoral studies at the University of Aveiro (2007-2008) and at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2008-2009). He is currently Associate Professor at the Universidade Federal Fluminense at the Institute of Chemistry at the Department of Organic Chemistry and Coordinator of Applied Organic Synthesis Laboratory - LabSOA (Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/labsoa/; Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/labsoa_uff/). He was a Young Scientist of our State (FAPERJ) in two editions 2015-2017 and 2018-2021 and Affiliated Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences edition 2016-2020 (http://www.abc.org.br/link/fernando-de-carvalho-da-silva/). Currently, he is a Scientist of Our State (FAPERJ) and is on the editorial board of the Revista Virtual de Química, member of the editorial board of the journals Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry and Current Organic Chemistry and is a member of the board of the Sociedade Brasileira de Química. He has experience in Organic Chemistry, with emphasis on Organic Synthesis, working mainly on the following topics: coumarins, carbohydrates, heterocycles, diazocompostos, triazoles, quinones.
