Volker Minks

VOLKER MINKS obtained a Diploma in Agricultural Sciences and Horticulture at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin in 2002 (Agronomist Engineer), specializing in agriculture and urban horticulture, landscaping and sustainable urban planning. Currently, Volker is linked to the University of São Paulo at ESALQ and FAU USP. Research and teaching topics include the ecological, economic and social benefits of green infrastructure in Megacities related to climate change, biodiversity and urban food production. His work is connected to Sustainability, Bioeconomy and ESG. More than 20 years he has been involved in interdisciplinary projects in the areas of Green Urban Design, Urban Agriculture, Green Technologies, Innovation and Sustainable Urban Planning in Germany, the United States, Cuba, India, Mexico and Brazil. Since 2002, he has been a consultant and organizer of ecological projects and international conferences between universities, municipal government, companies and socio-environmental initiatives. He was part of the organization de-C40 Sao Paulo-Large Cities Climate Summit 2011; as well as the 1st Workshop in Urban Gardening and Design - A New Theoretical and Practical Approach for Food Security and Livable Cities 2012 at USP. It organized a series of KOSMOS Workshops between Humboldt Universität and USP, in Berlin 2013 and in São Paulo 2015. During this period, the first Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in 2013, and in 2015 a strategic partnership was established to promote cooperation, joint study projects and exchanges of students and professors between both institutions. He was part of the creation of the project - Creating Earth at IEE USP 2013 - 2016. Since 2011, he has been coordinating and teaching the Summer School for international students on the ?Land in the City, Green in the City? course at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. He has published several articles on the topic of infrastructure and network green design and ecosystem innovation. He is part of the CIBA-USP - Ibero-American Center with the José Bonifácio Chair; and GLIP USP - Global Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution. Volker supports the dual system of science learning, combining theory and practice through research, teaching, projects and excursions.

Atualmente, Atualmente, Volker é vinculado à Universidade de São Paulo na ESALQ e FAU USP. Os tópicos de pesquisa e ensino incluem os benefícios ecológicos, econômicos e sociais da infraestrutura verde nas megacidades em relação às mudanças climáticas, biodiversidade e produção urbana de alimentos. Seu trabalho está ligado à Sustentabilidade, Bioeconomia e ESG. Mais de 20 anos ele está envolvido em projetos interdisciplinares nas áreas de Design Verde Urbano, Agricultura Urbana, Tecnologias Verdes, Inovação e Planejamento Urbano Sustentável na Alemanha, nos Estados Unidos, em Cuba, India, Mexico e no Brasil. Volker apoia o sistema dual de aprendizagem em ciências, combinando teoria e prática por meio de pesquisa, ensino, projetos e excursões.
