Roberto Imbuzeiro Moraes Felinto de Oliveira

Roberto has been a researcher at IMPA since September 2006, having become a full researcher (equivalent to full professor) in September 2017. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics in 2004 at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University, where he was mentored by Joel Spencer. He was post doc in the Physics of Information group at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center between 2004 and 2006. where he was supervised by Barbara Terhal. His interests include Probability and its relationships with other areas such as Statistics, Optimization and Quantum Information. He was an associate member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences in 2017. He coordinated the Teaching Division and the Planning and Projects Division of IMPA. From 2017 to 2021, he was assistant coordinator of the area of #8203;#8203;Mathematics/Probability and Statistics at CAPES.

Roberto é pesquisador do IMPA desde setembro de 2006, tendo se tornado pesquisador titular em setembro de 2017. Seus interesses incluem Probabilidade e as suas relações com outras áreas, como Estatística, Otimização e Informação Quântica. Foi membro associado da Academia Brasileira de Ciências de 2012 a 2017. Coordenou a Divisão de Ensino e a Divisão de Planejamento e Projetos do IMPA. De 2017 a 2021, foi coordenador adjunto da área de Matemática/Probabilidade e Estatística na CAPES.
