Anthony M Ford
PhD degree at Kings College, University of London (1989, London - UK) and current works as a Senior Staff Scientist at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR, London - UK). Our specialist programme of research (funded by The Kay Kendall Leukaemia Fund and Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research) seeks to uncover the pre-clinical natural history, clonal evolution and aetiology of the major subtype of paediatric leukaemia: childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL).My own interests in the portfolio involve work on the t(12;21) that creates the TEL-AML1 (ETV6-RUNX1) fusion gene and my projects are mainly designed to support developmental models for this leukaemia. I also have long-term familiarity with the molecular genetics of BCR-ABL1+ leukaemia. Our team has an extensive network of UK-based and international collaborators that provide access to patient samples. The epidemiological interests of the team are pursued via the UK Children s Cancer Study Group (UKCCS) and via international cooperation (e.g. Brazil, Hong Kong, Japan and Italy).
