Jorge Luís Nunes e Silva Brito

I have a degree in Cartographic Engineering from the Instituto Militar de Engenharia (1984), I have a Master's degree in Systems and Computing from the Instituto Militar de Engenharia (1988), a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Mapping and GIS from "The Ohio State University", USA , (1997) and Post-Doctorate in digital photogrammetry and laser scanning at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain, 2014). I am currently a Full Professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). I have experience in Geosciences, with an emphasis on Photogrammetry, where I have been working mainly in the following fields: digital photogrammetry, photogrammetric mapping, remote sensing and computer-supported cartography. I am the coordinator of the Research Group called "Laboratory of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (LFSR) at UERJ, where the project called "E-FOTO: An Educational Digital Photogrammetric Station in a Free Software Environment" has been developed since 2003, whose objective is the development of a digital photogrammetric station using the GNU/GPL approach. Czech Republic, in July 2016, and with the Bronze medal at the "6th CATCON", at the XXII International Congress of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, in Melbourne, Australia, in September 2012.

Sou graduado em Engenharia Cartográfica pelo Instituto Militar de Engenharia (1984), possuo o Mestrado em Sistemas e Computação pelo Instituto Militar de Engenharia (1988), Doutorado (Ph.D.) in Mapping and GIS pela "The Ohio State University", USA, (1997) e Pós-Doutorado em fotogrametria digital e varredura por LASER pela Universidade Politécnica de Valência (Espanha, 2014). Atualmente sou Professor Titular da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). Tenho experiência na área de Geociências, com ênfase em Fotogrametria, onde tenho atuando principalmente nos seguintes campos: fotogrametria digital, mapeamento fotogramétrico, sensoriamento remoto e cartografia apoiada por computador. Sou o coordenador do Grupo de Pesquisa denominado "Laboratório de Fotogrametria e Sensoriamento Remoto(LFSR) da UERJ, onde se desenvolve, desde 2003, o projeto denominado "E-FOTO: Uma Estação Fotogramétrica Digital Educacional em Ambiente de Software Livre", cujo objetivo é o desenvolvimento de uma estação fotogramétrica digital segundo a abordagem GNU/GPL. Este projeto alcançou repercussão em nível mundial, tendo sido contemplado com a medalha de Prata no "7th CATCON", no XXIII Congresso Internacional de Fotogrametria e Sensoriamento Remoto, em Praga, República Tcheca, em julho de 2016, e com a medalha de Bronze no "6th CATCON", no XXII Congresso Internacional de Fotogrametria e Sensoriamento Remoto, em Melbourne, Austrália, em Setembro de 2012.
